Whether that's 35 minutes across city traffic somewhere or 50 minutes from SF to Brookings, it's not that different.
Shoot Assoc. AD Rob Petersen an e-mail in regards to fb scheduling and a 6th home game in a 12 game season. IMO he's been screwing the fb programs schedule for years now. He'll have all kinds of excuses for ya...guaranteed!!

Its difficult, Sioux Falls can be very expensive to fly into. Still have to travel up to Brookings on top of it. I think you have to play the 12th game, whether its on the road or not. But I would be against playing a guarantee road game at a FCS opponent. If you can get a later return game (possibly when stadium improvements are finished). Then its not so bad.

Yea! It isn't about attendance it is about playoff eligibility. You need 7 D-I wins to be considered for the FCS playoffs - the more D-I wins the better - and home games are statistically easier to win then road games and wins against cupcake are statistically easier to win then games against quality opponents. So since they all count the same, why not a cupcake at home. Now it is kinda about attendance, because you need strong attendance so that you can pay a cupcake to come in. It works for NDSU I would like us to get there too.

Goon - Do you really want a game against a bottom feeder just to have a 6th home game? To a certain extent, we already struggle with attendance (maxing out each game) and I don't see how watering down the schedule will help that. Now if we add a top-tier FCS opponent, that's a different story.

I am of the opinion that if we build a new stadium "they will come", but nothing is going to drive up attendance more than success on the football field. The shine of a new stadium will wear off very quickly if we don't put a good product on the field - See Target Field.

From the outside looking in, I would agree that it does not make financial sense to add a 6th game.

Another reason State has trouble is because you can't fly directly into Brookings like, for instance, you can in Fargo.

Also, I ran across this today. It's a short interview with Stig from the Star Tribune: http://www.startribune.com/sports/blogs/191247471.html

Yes, but they have also said they may not want an 12th game based on them playing so many games the past few seasons. They have essentially played another full season because of all of the playoff games.

I believe NDSU is paying $200,000 + to bring in teams for 1 and done's. I know they've had to start paying more since they started winning Nat'l Championships because Fargo is a long way to travel for almost a guaranteed loss.

Great timing, I am a BHS alum but will not be coming home this year. I might invest in a 44 mile round trip to the Hobo Day game.

If we're not going to get another home game next fall, which is better...seven road games or just sticking with six? Portland State is a game we should, in theory, win. Just interested in what feedback everybody has. I guess I'd be inclined to take the extra game, some money and/or a future return trip to Brookings (return trip would be preferred) and, with a little luck, the win.
I thought the same thing until I looked up their schedule. They only won 3 games last year, but all of their losses were close except for Montana State. They blew out Cal Davis in their house. It's definitely not an easy game, especially considering it's probably going to be played Aug. 31. You know how well State does in early season games. But yes, it is a game SDSU should win.
