It would definitely give the coaching staff a BETTER look at what they need to change or what JUCO's to look at this offseason. A week of practices with Kool at WR would definitely help him prepare for the offseason and into next year.
Problem is there will likely be some significant changes to both sides of the ball in terms of both scheme and personel. Having 3 days of walk-through practice or even half pads is simply not going to translate into anything in terms of next year's success. Not at this point. If it was talking about more time during Spring Ball, then I'd agree you need as many practices as you can squeeze in. They'll be running stairs in the HPER soon enough. That will do more to help them next year than this week's practices.

What do 6'10" post players with moves and quick feet and 6'2" 280 lb D-lineman with quickness have in common? Neither are coming to SDSU to play. There just aren't a lot of athletes out there who fit those molds. The ones who do, aren't coming to the midwest, let alone SDSU, to play. They end up at a big name FBS school because they are so rare.

Most colleges make up for that reality by recruiting a ton of DE's and LB's. They hope they can put weight on a DE and move him to DT and still keep his quickness. For an edge rusher, the find a LB who feels comfortable with his hand on the ground and tell him to get after the QB hoping that his quickness translates into a pass rusher. That even happens at LSU and big time schools. Hell, the Bears have a College RB starting at one of the DT positions.

I'd wager that at least 1/4 of all players recruited to play college football learn an entirely new position in college. RB's become Corners. Safeties become LB's. QB's become TE's. TE's become OL.

Oklahoma has made a living out of recruiting high school QBs and then turning them into another position.

Jake Steffen, HS QB, turned into a pretty good DE.

One high school player that SDSU is looking at that I think could immediately help...

Marco Naughton is a stud DT for CB St. Albert. (Same school as Gentile) He would be a huge get for the Jacks and has the talent to start.

Funny thing is if Jake Steffen had gone to Iowa, he would have be a linebacker. I would have loved to see him keep the weight off that he need for DE and played linebacker.

Also in 9-man football the QB is usally the best athlete on the team. Greenway was twice the QB Jake was and look what he is doing. (getting beat 45-7 by the Pack!) Had to add that.
