Serious question....Cochart put up good numbers in testing, but is he NFL caliber on the field? I only saw a handful of games so I can't make a judgement. There's a lot more to playing in the NFL than testing out well in workouts.
Who was the SDSU TE a couple years ago (kid from Brookings)? If I recall he tested out well, made a training camp roster and that was the extent of it. Is Cochart similar or different?

Chris Wagner was the previous TE from Brookings. I think Cochart probably has a better shot than Wagner did.
He's not as good as Heiden was but I think teams are looking at him in a similar way. Try and add another 10 pounds and use him as the second blocking TE who could catch a few passes throughout the year.
the NFL is the best of the best in college football. sometimes it comes down to being in the right place at the right time. he'll have to start out with the odds stacked against him, if he played for a higher profile school his chances would be better.

What? Steve Heiden, DII South Dakota State, 3rd Round Draft pick. How can you say if he'd played for a higher profile school. Cochart played at an FCS school that made the playoffs his junior year and was ranked in the top 20 on occassion. It's not like scouts don't know where Brookings is.

Man all our guys keep goin to the Pack in positions that they are stacked in. 3 spots that would be really really hard to get on the team for the Pack would be WR, TE, and LB.

Maybe... Donald Lee is not getting resigned and Tom Crabtee was avg at best last year. That leaves Finley and Quarless. Finley being an all around stud and Quarless more of a recieving TE than blocking. That would leave Cochart battling other free agents and Crabtree. I don't see the Packers drafting a TE this year. I guess maybe Green Bay would not be a bad destination. Last year the Packers started the year carrying 4 TE's. McCarthy likes the position because of the versatility on special teams and such.
