Uncertainty about the passing game as well. No excuses for TOB, fact is he needs to play better, make better decisions, make better throws, gain the respect of his O-line and receiving core. He has had his chances and thus far has not performed up to the level expected of him. He isn't maturing into the role expected of him and that is a large reason the offense is struggling. Thank goodness for Priddy or our defense would be in even worse positions than they have been thus far. That said, our defense does need to do a better job of pressuring the QB while keeping containment. That is easier said than done.

My main point, no excuses for the young man at QB. He has accepted a lot of responsibility in that role and I haven't seen him fill the shoes left for him. I think he can and I hope he does but time is already running short this season.

Let me get this straight... TOB's 9 interceptions are keeping our defense from getting sacks and tackling the other team for a loss? TOB's 9 interceptions is the reason our D has only 3 interceptions? TOB is the reason why opponents have fumbled the ball 8 times, but we've only recovered 2?

Or perhaps the issues with this team are more complex than who's playing under center.

I never said he is a running quarterback. I think we all know he is definitely not. Every quarterback even "pocket quarterbacks" need to have the instinct to take off and run from time to time to keep the defense honest. I think he is athletic enough to do that.

JMO If he's staying in as QB he needs to learn some basics. #1 when flushed out of the pocket tuck the ball and take off running, many times he has a hole to gain 7 to 10 yrds. #2 When throwing the ball dont throw it to a receiver which is double or even triple covered some times. When throwing the ball away "THROW" it away, not just up for grabs to any defender in the area. # 3 Finsh drives that are in the red zone, marching the ball down field 80 yrds does no good when fumbling, throwing an interception or just 3 and out settling for a field goal is not going to win you football games.

exactly, the goal of every play is to get + yardage, not even or - yardage.

This is exactly why this thread is so frustrating to me.

THE DEFENSE IS IN THE BOTTOM 10 IN THE NATION FOR RUSHING YARDS PER GAME, SACKS, AND TACKLES FOR A LOSS. TOB has absolutely nothing to do with any of those pathetic stats. Our defensive unit has been at least as bad, if not worse than TOB, yet no one is calling out Domino or the D coordinator?????

While TOB could certainly be playing better, he is certainly not the only reason for our lackluster season so far.
Absolutely no way he played well enough for us to win any of our games. It's not just the interceptions. If your watching closely even the receptions are not in a place that allows the receiver to advance the ball while on the run or its a drop off to a secondary receiver that has no chance to get a first down. Granted we don't have the receivers we had last year, but when you watch the number of uncatchable balls and ones don't go to the hot receiver you have to look at the coaching and the quarterback. Too many mistakes in the red zone. Can't expect much more out of our defense.

SDSU 22 rushes for 155 yards, 7.0 ypc

I know you were down late and had to throw more, but that is probably the most "dominated" our run defense has ever been. Why go away from it in the as soon as you did?
Whats the saying, dance with the horse that brought you or something. We are getting better at running every week it looks. We have great running backs, and the change on the online helped. I dont care if we win, but lets give our team the best chance and to be that is running 40 plays agame. Add a few different formations and it should be just fine to run that much. IMO the O line is playing very well, so lets take advantage of that.

Example, Peyton Manning, People dont want to see him run it, but some times it calls for it. even to get away to throw it away.

I feel TOB just thinks, maybe if I throw it harder, I will get it to them and something lucky will happen. It is like he is not taking a very calculated approach to his passes. Reminds me of Kardoes when he took over, Nelson had accuracy and touch and then watching Kardoes was tough to see him pass, but he figured it out and his arm helped to win several games with big plays. Thats what I am hoping to see, Berry had great touch and accuracy passes, Crawford had a lot but not the strength. TOB has a canon, but no way to control it. Hope he goes the way of Kardoes and figures out how to use the arm but relize you do not need to throw a bullet every pass.

When I saw you only had 22 rushes I about pooed myself.

UNI ran the ball 50 times because it worked, 5.5 ypc is a heck of an average especially since we don't have a well tested power back. Using Anderson and Rennie to get 5.5 ypc is great.

Like I said I know SDSU was down and "needed" to throw more, but you need more than 22 carries to win...especially with a back like Minett.
