TOB will be ok. Last year, our "hard teams" were generally in November with SIU, Minn, and Montana. This year, our road schedule was identified to be the roughest in the FCS by TSN. So, our expectations were to win all the home games, and split 3-3 either 4-2 on the away games. I'm afraid that Jacks will not make the play-offs this season. In fact, giving what we have shown for all the games, except NEB, is a pretty anemic offense, and a suspetible defense.

Hopefully, Jacks start the turn-around by knocking of WIU in the Beef Bowl.

In my opionion TOB is the problem. Instead of staring down one receiver constantly and throwing to the one he stares down(THIS IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM) he needs to look at who is open. There are people wide open and he doesn't even see them, and his protection isn't that bad at all. He hangs onto the ball way to long, and when the protection breaks down he needs to roll out and find the open receiver.
He picks out who is going to throw to before they even break the huddle.He stares that guy down and throws to him whether he is open or not.
I don't want to be bias, but look at the last 6 minutes of the UNI game. They first started using the TE then and he had 4 catches and a TD. Why not do this in the 1,2, and third quarters also.
I would hope the coaches tell TOB not to stare down his receivers like he does. This is the biggest probel he has and every defense knows it.

I wonder how much in practice, they work on looking down the different options. With how bad the WRs are, I dont blame him completely. The biggest problem I see is his has no touch. It took Kardoes a while to learn it also. He also threw it hard every time. Berry was great at touch throughs, so was Nelson. those 2 I thought were fun to watch and when they dropped back to pass, I would get excited because I knew most often something good was going to happen. With TOB I get worried. They have a lot of mechanics to work on. To bad Loetzer isnt on the team. this would be a chance to let him have a rep or 2. IMO Whitter would be starting next game if he would have stayed. Maybe gotten chances sooner. There is a lot more to being QB then throwing a nice looking deep pass. That to me is TOB best option, but does not have WRs who can get deep or break coverage.

Something needs to change with our O and change right now

Yipes, there is a team that is struggling on offense more then we are? I doubt they are playing a rough schedule like we are. Wish we would have a eaiser game or 2 to start the year. Its asking a lot to come out an play tough competition the second week of the year with only 1 home games after 4 games.

Playoffs are out of the question. winning the majority of the games left should be a goal now. I hope we can finish at least 5-6 this year. more likely I see us at 4-7.

Personnel changes need to be made at WR to help TOB out- Rollins opposite of Kool is not a good mix- Rollins needs to go inside at slot and move someone else outside who can run. That will open things up more.

TOB makes an occasional great throw but most of his throws are horrible throws. They are behind receivers, they are bullets when the play requires a touch pass, he overthrows receivers and not just by a little but by a lot. D is playing good enough to get a win; lines are playing well enough to get a win. Receivers aren't great but are good enough if they get a catchable ball. A preseason #9 ranking didn’t make sense to me because of our quarterback play and this is why. He gets rattled too easily especially on the road in tough spots. TOB is the problem in my opinion. I know the backup had a horrible fall camp but give the kid a shot in the 2nd half of the Western Illinois game if TOB continues to struggle which I believe he will although he does seem to play a little better at home. If we had Ryan Berry we’d probably be 2-2 at worst right now.

So we should only expect our quarterback to play well in the "easy games" and not the "hard games". Everyone else played well enough to win in those "hard games". Right now I think most of the blame for an 0-4 season falls on the quarterback, coaches and the schedule maker. TOB is not okay. I see an anxious quarterback in the pocket who shows little willingness to run if the opportunity presents itself and not much touch on his passes whether they call for a finesse pass or a bullet.

Your schedule the first 6 games or so is absolutely BRUTAL. I was thinking you'd get 2 wins out if it, but with the way WIU appears to be playing and SIU starting to get healthy again you could be in a REALLY bad situation.

I hate seeing that, I'd like SDSU to continue to be extremely strong...much more so than NDSU. I hope you have a dang good freshman class, and recruiting class already signed/close to signing and that this season doesn't affect recruiting much the next two or three years.

The Jacks' offensive problems run deeper than a jittery QB. It's not fair to shove so much of the blame on him. Most of the offense seems out of sync and at times overmatched. Thank goodness for Minett, Kool, McKnight and probably a couple of others. Let TOB continue to refine his skill and play out the year. Most of it anyway. Then, if necessary, the debate for next season can begin.

he doesn't run because he isn't a running QB.... TOB is a pocket QB, which works great if you have a receiving core like you did last year. When your receivers aren't that great, or inexperienced like they are this year it hurts you.

THE DEFENSE IS IN THE BOTTOM 10 IN THE NATION FOR RUSHING YARDS PER GAME, SACKS, AND TACKLES FOR A LOSS. TOB has absolutely nothing to do with any of those pathetic stats. Our defensive unit has been at least as bad, if not worse than TOB, yet no one is calling out Domino or the D coordinator?????

While TOB could certainly be playing better, he is certainly not the only reason for our lackluster season so far.

While TOB could certainly be playing better, he is certainly not the only reason for our lackluster season so far.

Those stats are miseading. TOB's 9 interceptions are putting the D in a lot of tough spots. He's had at least 2 picks in every game.

With all due respect...no he didn't. He did absolutely nothing vs. Nebraska. I'm not dogging him for this. Not many QB's are gonna go into Memorial Stadium and light things up. Against UNI, you need to look past the stats. A majority of his numbers came in the 4th Qtr when UNI was basically in a prevent. At one point late in the 1st half, he was 5-13 for 52 yds...and then came the goalline INT to suck the life out of the team...again.

SDSU 22 rushes for 155 yards, 7.0 ypc


I know you were down late and had to throw more, but that is probably the most "dominated" our run defense has ever been. Why go away from it in the as soon as you did?
