    Re: Is it time?

Said it in the UNI thread but I will post it here too. Get rid of the unneeded motion no team makes adjustments for and keep the offense simple. Too much going on and it isn't throwing the opposite team at all. I can honestly say I was getting ticked off at TOB on Saturday, but more of the blame can go towards these worthless motion plays. You can always expand the offense's plays later on but get the offense going first.

I didn't understand the shifting of 4 players on every play. I think UNI adjusted their alignment, maybe twice, when SDSU shifted. What is the point of it, other than using all 40 seconds of the play clock every play?

          That isn't a god-awful stat line.

We might as well be talking about benching Minett, he was responsible for just as many turnovers without any TD's. And he is a senior.

            Re: Is it time?

I can only echo what others have said. TOB performance has been at times disappointing, but there are no better alternatives. Pulling the redshirt on Sumner might come back to haunt us in 2014 when his eligiblity is completed and we have another struggling qb learning the ropes. Danny Batten would have played this season if we had not pull or never put on the redshirt on him, same with Jordon Miranda, the long snapper, both are missed this year but all eligibity is used up.

Thomas as some have said did not have a good fall camp. So there you go.

The redshirt sophomore from Winona is bearing the brunt of the criticism from outside the locker room. He's 80 of 151 with nine interceptions to three touchdowns this season.

The Jackrabbits are putting up just 8.5 points per game, ranking 116th out of 117 teams in the Football Championship Subdivision in scoring.

Yep, that's god awful actually In all seriousness, we have no other options this year. The other 'Thomas' would make TOB look like Peyton Manning and pulling Austin's redshirt just doesn't make sense (even though I thought differently on Sat at about 7pm). All we can do is show up to CAS on Sat evening and support our Jacks. Like a previous poster said, "...it only takes one game, maybe even one play, to turn this thing around."

You know this how? I don't want Austin to take off the red shirts, but if Jordan Thomas is so bad why did we bring him to the program? What happens if TOB gets hurt. Come on the offense is second to last in the nation, how much worse can it get?

Maybe TOB isn't the problem, but something is very very wrong with our O and needs to change. I will be at CAS this Saturday and every Saturday cheering for the Jacks

All I was saying was that his stat line wasn't that bad for the UNI Game, after which we have a thread about starting an ill equipped JUCO (by all reports) or a TRUE freshman.

I agree that there is something wrong with the offense that needs to be corrected. To imply that QB play is the only thing wrong with this offense or team would be very simplistic and wrong, IMO.

"The Jacks rank in the bottom 10 of all FCS teams in the following team categories: scoring offense (8.5), rushing defense (232.5), turnover margin (minus-1.75), pass efficiency (89.95), sacks (.75) and tackles for loss (3.75). They are in the top 10 in just one team stat: net punting.

                      Re: Is it time?

As an outsider with no real knowledge of your QB situation other than what I saw Saturday and knowing what you have left for a shot a the playoffs...don't pull the red shirt.

At this point you aren't eliminated from the playoffs, but you need to win out to be eligible and even then you won't get in because recovering from an 0-4 start in the committees eyes will be impossible...unless you start beating people 50-0.

Why pull the kids red shirt 5 games into the season? WHy put him in a situation like that? Give him the year to develop at this point. Not only would keeping his red shirt give him the rest of the season to develop, it gives your program some stability moving forward for another year (assuming the kid can actually play).

Hit me with the neg reps if you feel I guess, just thought I'd share an outsider POV on the situation.

Your punter has a f-ing cannon for a leg.

Luckily. But sadly our team MVP this year to me is clearly the punter.

                            Re: Is it time?

We are 1-7 in our last 8 games going back to last year. WE started off scoring last year, sure we had easier teams but Crawford started. When TOB was qb as a freshman our points per game was much lower. I also blame the schedule for this year also. no back to back home games and starting the second week of the season. I know there is a lot out of our control on this, but scheduling has to be better.

I guess the team did not get the point of the 1 game at a time speech turning into 1 play at a time. It did not really make a difference.

I still think this team has no confidence. Goes back to last year and the way they struggled its last 4 games going 1-3. I would like to see the play calling back to the Berry days where there was actually some variety. I know its up the players to execute the plays, but I think there can be done more with the play calling.

                              Edit: Found it myself. http://www.gojacks.com/ViewArticle.d...53&SPSID=64628

                              pg. 81.

                              It also has 2012 & 2013.

                              Here is 2011's schedule:

                              Sept. 10 @ Illinois
                              Sept. 17 Open
                              Sept. 24 @ Illinois State
                              Oct. 1 Indianta State
                              Oct. 8 @ YSU
                              Oct. 15 UNI
                              Oct. 22 NDSU
                              Oct. 29 @ Missouri State
                              Nov. 5 Southern Illinois
                              Nov. 12 North Dakota

I would like to see the MVC split up the conference schedule about half way through so if teams want a Bye week they could. It seems they stack the entire conference schedule together. I would like to see a bye week around Oct. 15 or 22.

In my opionion TOB is the problem. Instead of staring down one receiver constantly and throwing to the one he stares down(THIS IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM) he needs to look at who is open. There are people wide open and he doesn't even see them, and his protection isn't that bad at all. He hangs onto the ball way to long, and when the protection breaks down he needs to roll out and find the open receiver.
He picks out who is going to throw to before they even break the huddle. He stares that guy down and throws to him whether he is open or not.
I don't want to be bias, but look at the last 6 minutes of the UNI game. They first started using the TE then and he had 4 catches and a TD. Why not do this in the 1,2, and third quarters also.
I would hope the coaches tell TOB not to stare down his receivers like he does. This is the biggest probel he has and every defense knows it.
