Re: New Stadium
I still like how Utah State's stadium looks. I hope the new stadium can eventually resemble something like what Utah State has. Here are some pictures from this blog I ran across: http://collegefootballnation.squarespace.com/

Re: New Stadium
My guess is a PSL for suites/boxes is a given. However, that might serve to suck some of the corporate money out of the "good" seats in the grandstand, so that they're accessible by just-plain-fans with sufficient Jackrabbit Club point accumulations.
(My hope is that, down the road, the Frost Arena seating upgrades serve a similar purpose . . . not that I particularly mind my seats that I currently have in Section B . . .)

I am assuming that the Dykhouse donation is more at the corporate level as it typically hosts groups of folks. It does not appear to be a per-person cost, so it can be a bit misleading.
With that in mind, do you still think $100 per year is getting you on the 50?
Lastly, $100 per year will still get you on the 50 if you've had season tickets for long enough, based on the rules of the point system (which could change in the future).

Re: New Stadium
I thought PSL just meant that those center and front seats are basically sold, they get to put their name on the back of the chair but have to pay a little bit more for them. I don't think its a huge money making deal, but its kinda like marking your spot if you are an individual or showing off your company if you let people sit in those seats. If Cargil had 25 seats at Coughlin and they gave them out to employees and big customers does anyone know that they did that? No, but if they have their name on the back they get to show off.

Re: New Stadium
Any individual or cooperation who gives $10000+ annually has access to Dykhouse center on gamedays. Doesn't matter who you are.

Re: New Stadium
I would be shocked if any kind of PSL is utilized in the new stadium.
I am not aware of any college in America that uses PSL, and the reasons are tax related.
A donation is tax deductible as charitable giving. A PSL is not. Donors and Businesses alike would prefer a donation based system, and the athletic department would make a lot more money too.

The $50 donation would still be required for the other sections, but a PSL would be a one-time donation of say $2,000-$5,000 to the stadium fund and then an additional $100-$200 per year, per seat for the new "prime" seating section.
This would be outside of the $10,000 annual payment for luxury suites.
Just throwin' it out there....

Or am I not thinking a long the same lines as you are. Or just tweaking this sytem that is already in place?

The main point of my post was to get a dicussion going on the merits of the current points system versus a new PSL type system, or a combination of both. My gut is telling me that we are going to see a combo in the new stadium.

What do I mean by that?
Well, we certainly can't abandon the existing priority points system as it would punish long-time donors. However, a drive for the new stadium is all about funding. If "prime" seats become available, they could be offered for a one-time PSL "lease", or at a discounted lease price to those longstanding donors. I would envision seating between the 40's or 45's on the home-side to be this PSL type seating. Those long-standing donors who don't wish to contribute "extra" would be offered seats outside of that zone. This would give the opportunity for new or recent season ticket holders to jump to the front of the line, at a substantial donation to SDSU to help with the stadium, of-course. We also have the luxury box seating to talk about, but I that's another discussion for another day.
In short, I hope our donors aren't torked off when they find out they aren't going to have their same prime seats in the new stadium unless they cough up some more cash.
This is all my opinion and prediction, of course. Not based off of any inside knowledge.
