Great win. Not saying I'm happy with a tie going into the last series but I'm sure not disappointed by it. This team understands how to win baseball games and I think they are going to win the Summit tourney. I hope they enter it as the 1 seed.
No time for regrets about any losses or jubilation about any wins. It's all about the next pitch not any of the outs, plays, wins, or losses that happened before. That, my friends, is why baseball is such a great game.
What are you doing standing here? I gave you a gift. You stand here showing up my pitcher? Run, dummy.

Who was quoted as saying "we are good, when you're good ,you're good",well........beat ORU and prove it!
Sorry,I just couldn't say that if my team couldn't win one game out of four,at home or not!(he said that prior to this series,0-3, I know)Just tired of hearing how "good" we are, but can't seem to beat ORU anyway.Frustration I guess.
I think you are taking the quote out of context a bit. It was in an article about the NCAA mandated bat changes and Zach Briggs was saying that the Jacks are a good team (which they definitely are, they have won approximately 28 out of their last 35 games), and no matter what bats they use they will still be a good team.
Nothing wrong with what he said at all, because it's absolutely true -whether they beat ORU (another very good college baseball team) or not. And they did steal one game yesterday.
I'm happy to hear one of our athletes say that - I love the confidence! I wish we would see that with some of our other teams.

Amen!! Sorry jackdaniel, but I thought your post was really strange. There are a heck of a lot of players, and a heck of a lot of teams who can believe they are good...and they are...but that doesn't mean there might not be another team that is better. Oral Roberts has so much more going for it...history...recruiting...facilities...location, that any team that can challenge them for the conference championship is indeed, a GOOD team. We beat them 3 of 4 when they played here, and they beat us 3 of 4 on their turf...I would say they are both two GOOD teams.
I went down to Tulsa, praying for one win (which would be the first time we have ever beaten them in Tulsa), hoping for two. We got the one win we needed, and now we have our destiny in our own hands, as does ORU, when it comes to who wins the conference, or shares the title (again after last year). I am extremely proud of the job Ritchie Price has done, and the athletes he has on this team. They are indeed good (ask the other teams who have trailed them in the Summit last year and this year). GO JACKS!
Guess I'm just a little greedy and want more, more, more. What we did last year was great, but this year,I'd like to see the team make the NCAA's.They really deserve it for all they've done for the baseball program at SDSU.Everyone is right,we are still in good shape yet,and i have all the confidence in the world that this team can do great things, despite what i said in the previous post.
also should be noted ORU is a really good team. Have some real talent on that team including Alex Gonzalez who was drafted in the 11th round last year out of high school. They added 3 players that had previously been drafted the lowest being in the 21st round. They play in a lot better climate for spring baseball, have much better facilities and a much nicer stadium. The fact that SDSU is not getting 10 runned should be an achievement in itself. (ok maybe the last part is an exaggeration). But really for what SDSU invest in baseball they are getting a very nice product.
As far as the bats thing I think most people associated with baseball and that follow it understands that the aluminum bat needs to go and that it can be very dangerous. I just think that what upset SDSU and many schools was how late they made the change. But as noted, if you are a good player, and a good team you should be able to hit with any type of a bat.
Seems to me the pressure at the start of the series was with ORU the home team. They had to make up two games and a sweep to pull into first place. I suspect our guys rode a bus for many hours prior to the first game, and that no doubt took some of the pop out of our guys. ORU won three and dropped the fourth, which tells me our guys recouped from that long bus ride, one that ORU probably had to deal with last year. That said, I think we are nearly equal with ORU, excluding the tradition bit, which can be intimidating,
There is no doubt in my mind that we have a very good team and a great coach. Lets hope we can keep our coach around. He is bound to get some offers and with his dad being the head guy for Kansas, Ritchie unless he has caught the Special Place bug, he is not likely to stay at SDSU. I used to think the same with Coach Nagy, but he got acclimated at SDSU and be gratiful for that. A good program does NOT happen automatically. Its a ton of work that has to be done by the coach and his staff. Tulsa no doubt has a climate advantage, but Maine has made it to Omaha a number of times. U of Maine's climate does not permit outside baseball until late into the spring. I believe they have the facilites and resources to play a ton of games in the South and elsewhere. We can make it to Omaha if we have the resources and the coach. Its not so far off as one would think.

I would compare making the CWS in baseball to our basketball team making the Sweet 16. In order to make it to Omaha we would need to win the conference tourney, make it through regionals and then make it through Super Regionals....impossible, no....but not overly realistic.

Exactly. Just making the tourney is great, a regional championship and making a super regional would be phenomenal! I would definitely think hard about making a road trip to see that.
I don't think we'll ever see the Jackrabbits in Omaha at the CWS but I can still dream.....

Dreaming does not cost much. Yes a SDSU trip to Omaha for the CWS seems remote, but lets see how far we go this year.
