We can't seem to get the monkey off our back in Tulsa.
Let's rip that dang monkey off, throw it to the ground and stomp all over it today, boys!
It's more like a gorilla, especially when they are at home. When you look at their history, at their location, at their facilities, at their roster (below), it becomes apparent how tough it is for any team in the league, but certainly the northern based teams, to compete with them.
They have 17 pitchers on their 35-man roster (SDSU has 28 players), and of that 35, they have more than 20 players who have transferred in from other universities, or jucos.
Despite that fact, we have competed against the rest of the league, and last year showed we were competitive by beating them in our series in Brookings...it continues to be VERY difficult to beat them down here.
While we certainly want to beat them (and will try to get one this afternoon), in all reality, this series has no major effect on the tournament in Sioux Falls, and only means that the tournament will be back in Tulsa next year (and yes, that is a downer). This year we will be either the #1 or #2 seed, will not play in the same bracket at the tourney in the first games, and will play the Thursday night game against somebody other than ORU.
The team is definitely "down" right now, but I have confidence they will be "up" for the tournament and a chance to face ORU up our way. GO JACKS!
Who was quoted as saying "we are good, when you're good ,you're good",well........beat ORU and prove it!
Sorry,I just couldn't say that if my team couldn't win one game out of four,at home or not!(he said that prior to this series,0-3, I know)Just tired of hearing how "good" we are, but can't seem to beat ORU anyway.Frustration I guess.
A win today will go a long long way towards advancing the program this year and in the future. It pulls us even with 4 games to play and gets the gorilla of our back, a gorilla all the other Summit programs have never budged much less nearly shaken. I hope the boys can pull this one out.
We are here to add what we can to life, not get what we can from life. -Sir William Osler
We do not see things as they are, we see things as we are.
That game the Jacks lost at home to last place Oakland is going to come back to haunt them.
ORU can say the same thing. Oakland beat them one game. So that kind of cancels that out. BTW Oakland also beat Michigan St, who is in 1st place in the Big 10
