I think -every- athletic department, SDSU included, needs to examine itself regularly, and evaluate whether it's placing a fair emphasis on academics. And that includes helping students determine whether they should continue in an athletic program if it is interfering with their academic goals.

Also, JackJD. I don't believe you. Next thing, you'll be telling me that astrology has nothing to do with telescopes, and that "Nuke-u-lar" is the wrong way to pronounce nuclear.

No, it deals with climate change, just ask our state legislators.

I like pie. I think I will call my dietician to see if it is okay.

          Don't.

          They'll say no.

Screw 'em. Try the blueberry pie, I hear it's very fresh today.

Don't care for meringue myself. Key lime pie (with a teensy bit of merange, perhaps) would be an exception.

Happy Birthday, by the way. Maybe you'll get a Rabbit victory as a surprise present!

Words cannot even begin to describe the stupidity of that amendment.

You would have to invent a whole other language.

The usefulness of the LRC was never shown more by that.

                    I agree Filbert.

I remember a story about Corey Lekkekerer (sp?) a BCS caliber OT from UC Davis. One time Stig asked Bob Biggs how he landed a kid like that and Biggs told him that Corey was being recruited by Stanford but he wanted to get an engineering degree and Stanford didn't want him doing that as it would require too much time, so Corey ended up going to UC Davis, getting a degree in engineering and eventually landing in an NFL camp.

In the end it is the responsibility of the student to get the most out of their college experience. When I was an undergrad I took a fairly easy major, skipped a lot of classes, partied a lot and got B's. I made some great friends and have some great memories but I struggled finding what I wanted to do for 11 years before deciding to go back to college and getting the degree I should have the first time around. That was all on me not my advisor or anyone else at the university.

Blueberry, with SDSU ice cream sounds great.

Percent chance Ben Jacobson moves south from Cedar Falls to Iowa City after reaching the Sweet 16?

Greater than zero. However, the Iowa admin may shy away from going to another successful mid-major coach this time and look for more of a "sure thing" available major college coach. Just idle speculation on my part.

Heard a rumor today that if Tubby leaves the U of M job, that Minnesota will look hard at Jacobson.

I agree with your idle speculation and will speculate further. Iowa had a pretty successful basketball program for a number of years and will want to regain that as quickly as possible after the Lickliter debacle. I speculate the Iowa admin. will throw some money at the biggest name coach they can to try and drum up some support in the short term at least.
