Re: Summit League Basketball Tournament Announcement

    Question for anyone:

Folks that bought their tickets from the Arena Box Office...where you charged the BS fees?

Just wondering if it would be worth my time to just go down to the Arena and buy them. Probably will go down there anyway, just so I can say ticketmaster didn't get ANY of my $$.

    Can you say MONOPOLY.

If I had the time I would drive down to Sioux Falls. They will charge you $90. $84 for the tickets and a $6 building charge per ticket. Maybe there are some fees associated with printing the tickets, I assume that is why TM charges $16.

After giving up on Ticketmaster, I went to the Arena and bought tickets in person for a couple of groups. The total worked out to $90 per ticket. I'm not sure what that included. The Ticketmaster problems cost me some time but probably saved me money.
        This space for lease.

It saved you money for sure. I know that the arena charges a $6 "building use fee", hence the $90. I don't believe they charge any convenience fee.

I ordered 13 passes at $16 per pass thats a hefty fee for the inconvenience of driving to Sioux Falls and standing in line. That said, I made a lot more money working today even with my time spent on the internet.

Re: Summit League Basketball Tournament Announcement

Would it be possible for us to have a Jackrabbit pep rally in the So Foo Arena parking lot at about 8 AM on Wednesday, September 1, 2010? Maybe 89 rabbit (and crew) or the Sioux Empire group could sponsor and we would have coffee and donuts; infiltrate the local power structure for priority consideration; and reduce heartburn. There has to be an organizer out there somewhere! I don't think we can depend on Ticket Master to sponsor it!

What better time to get together, the MDs could schedule their golf day the lawyers could request a continuance, and the rest of us would just show up and enjoy. Call (956) 240-4405 if you need donut money!

This is flat crap. Although I never would have paid $20 in service fees I am pissed that I was at the arena at 10:40 and was told SDSU had bought all of the seats in section C and UMKC had bought all of B (this is when I figured something was fishy) and that the lower level was completely sold out. The best I could get was in Section D row 8 (was told this was the ORU section. It looks to me like either Ticketmaster had certain seats available to them only or they put the "less exciting" seats available early so they would get swallowed up leaving the "more exciting" seats for later purchases. Frankly, I don't care if that's the case but treat me like an adult and tell me that's the case. Don't make up BS lies.

If there is no advantage to buying seats early I don't see any reason to let someone use my $360 for 6 months. I don't think I'll buy into the hype next year.

                  Agreed.

Last year I got 2 tickets in the upper deck(10 rows up or so) near the middle opposite of the bench side. I got these as early as I could, about 15 minutes after they went on sale.

Later, I find that other people bought them later(months) then me and had much better seats. I also was able to get 4 other guys to go with me to the men's SDSU games, and they bought single game tickets each day - always in the lower deck. What is the point of me buying a full season pass when I can get walk-up single game tickets that are much better than what I get 6 months in advance?

Why are the late people rewarded by getting better seats in front of the die-hards that line up on a weekday morning outside the arena or take a break from their work just so they can get the best tickets in the house through Ticketmaster?

This year, due to the fiasco, my brother had to get off work, head up to Sioux Falls, only to find out that Ticketmaster started working soon after he left. We are stuck in Section R(I believe, about 7 rows up.) Not the worst tickets, but certainly would have liked to be more towards the middle - especially since we were ready to go at 10:00... can't say I'm impressed by the ticket office over the two years.

Can someone explain the whole ticket process and why they save some for later? I completely agree with EQguy.

each school is given so many tickets and if they arent used, they get returned and sold to people who walk up? and those are probably better than what we get when we get them early. i guess i dont care where im at, just so im there. see ya the 12th : )

Lower lever is all sold out as of 30 minutes ago when I bought my 6 tickets.
The 1-9 rows just above the lowest level that are reserved for each school are sold out also. According to the Lady at the ticket window, the teams have already returned the tickets they won't use and those have been sold also. She could be pulling my chain(considering they don't even know what schools are in), because like gojacksgo I know there were people who got them much later then me and had better seats and they where in those desiginated school sections, that were pratically always empty.

The best I could get my hands on today was Section C, Row 10, 5-10. Same row as last year, but not as center court.
I guess that's what I get for waiting one day!

There is definitely something they aren't telling us. There is NO WAY the teams have the tickets they won't use. They must hold some tickets for teams and then release them when they know who is in and who is out or when teams can't distribute them all. Too many of us who ordered early last year and were told we got the best seats possible saw people who ordered much later get MUCH BETTER seats. Its a racket I'm telling you.

I'll be there even though I'll be way towards the end of the court wishing I was more in the middle. I'm starting to think I should have just taken seats in section D or O so I could be midcourt. Oh well, it will be fun regardless.

how could teams have already returned their tickets? people at the other schools already know if they are coming here for this? thats BS. last year a friend called a month or so before the tourney started and she told him to call back a few days before the tourney because their would be tickets returned by teams. so no tickets are going to be sent back until the week before. are the people at the arena just dumb or are they lieing or what?

Maybe because of the success of last year the ticket brokers have hit and bought up the seats to sell later at a much more inflated cost. It happens all the time with big name concerts and sporting events. Check outlets like Stubhub.com and such.

I understand what you are saying, but last year was the same thing - better tickets later on. I find it hard to belive there were many ticket brokers involved last year. The group I went with got their lower-level tickets the night before each game from ticketmaster.com - not a ticket broker.
