    Hamilton Signs National Letter of Intent With UMKC Basketball
    Chicago area guard is Coach Brown's first recruit at UMKC

    Kansas City, Mo. - UMKC head coach Matt Brown announced today that Reggie Hamilton has signed a National Letter of Intent to play basketball and continue his education for the Kangaroos next season. Hamilton is the first recruit to sign with UMKC under Coach Brown.

    "Reggie is the type of student-athlete that has helped our teams succeed both at Richmond and West Virginia," said Brown. "His competitiveness and desire to be successful, both on and off the court, will make him an important member to the UMKC basketball family."

    The 6-1, 175, combo guard comes to Kansas City from Thornwood High School in South Holland, Ill., where he earned first team all-Sica East Conference honors last season as a senior. In 2006-07, he led the Thunderbirds to a 23-7 overall record after pacing the team with 17.7 points per game, to go along with 6.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists and 4.0 steals. . . . (read more)

    James Humphrey Inks National Letter of Intent With UMKC
    Forward joins the Kangaroos from Fork Union Military Academy

    Kansas City, Mo. - UMKC head coach Matt Brown announced today the signing of James Humphrey to a National Letter of Intent to continue his education and play basketball for the Kangaroos next season. Humphrey, a 6-7, 200, forward, comes to UMKC after playing at Fork Union Military Academy in Fork Union, Va., last season.

    "James is a well-rounded individual that will flourish in our program," said Brown. "On the floor, he possesses a great deal of athleticism that will give our team a new dimension."

    The Fort Wayne, Ind., native averaged nine points and five rebounds in 18 minutes of court time last season at Fork Union under head coach Fletcher Arritt. On the year, he helped his squad to a 22-8 overall record. . . . (read more)

      Late Signee Johnson Joins The UMKC Men's Basketball Program

      Illinois prep attended the Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina last season

      Kansas City, Mo. - Head Coach Matt Brown announced today that Spencer Johnson has enrolled in classes and will be a part of the 2007-08 UMKC men's basketball program. The 6-6, 200-lb. forward spent last season at the Laurinburg Institute in North Carolina, where he averaged 12 points and 10 rebounds per game.
      "Spencer will bring immediate toughness and competitiveness to our team everyday," said Brown. "He will have an opportunity to provide us with an immediate defensive presence this season." Johnson, a native of Champaign, Ill., attended Champaign Central High School from 2003-06. As a senior, Johnson earned all-state honors and was considered one of the top players in the state. He was ranked as the 22nd best player in Illinois by MidStateHoops.com, where he received a three-star ranking on a five-star scale . In the state that season, the senior class consisted of the likes of Jon Scheyer (Duke), Sherron Collins (Kansas) and Patrick Beverley (Arkansas). . . . (read more)
