I hope it's more than just a lack of success in Denver because if that's the case, why is their women's coach still there?
I don't think they care enough about Women's BB to do anything. T
he three marquee sports at DU are Hockey, LAX and Men's BB. Hockey and LAX are both very successful, Men's BB has languished going back to the Sun Belt days. They can't draw crowds, get less attention than Metro State and Regis and are not on anyone's radar. By bringing on Billups she gets to make a splash. The style will change. They will be more athletic and will begin to be able to compete with Wyoming, CSU and UNC for Denver metro talent. He will be able to recruit the DPS schools and he will bring in some talent that currently won't even look at DU.
Pretty sure the DU President feels they can do better than the Summit. She would like to get the attention of the WCC. If BYU ever get their wish and move on to a P5 there will be an opening. For the conference to look as far east as Colorado the program will need to be worth the trip. Right now DU is not.

It appeared Cremeans is pregnant. There might be a lawsuit waiting for her dismissal even though her record is dismal. The Pioneers may not care what is going on in the women's basketball like they would with hockey or men's basketball or soccer.
Best to remember these are kids and they are doing everything they can to entertain us, be scholars, and all in all be great humans. Jackedforlife

I would venture to say that there have been more frivolous lawsuits filed than an expectant mother being dismissed. Basis or common sense may not be prerequisites. I remember someone collecting money on hot coffee once.

Good question with equality laws and polices, I don't think this could be made an issue any more than having five hungry mouths at home to feed. If this AD is aggressive as described on the CU message board, she may not have gotten around to the women's basketball yet. Mens bb and hockey are some of the DU cash cows and no doubt these came first. I still think Joe's biggest problem was he had been there nine years and may not have accomplish what he was suppose to do.

Seems like there was a rumor floating around the SLT that the women's coach was to be replaced. I don't recall who or when it was but I read it on the internet, so it must be true
He will need to bring in some new talent. I have a feeling a few players won't be back next year. I have always been amazed that DU doesn't have more DPS kids on the roster. I remember when Billups chose to go there, I think the feeling was that the "rich kid suburban" school were finally going to begin bringing in some of the more talented inner-city kids. It just didn't ever happen under Scott. If you look at his roster all his Colorado kids are south suburban, Douglas County kids. Yes there is talent there, but the talent to compete at the D1 level, in the Summit against more athletic teams is not. I really think that Billups will bring the program up and I expect to see more Denver Public School kids on the roster.

Maybe the Denver admin had to high of expectations to just come in and dominate the summit league basketball scene.
That's what I remember hearing when they entered the league. Watch out, Denver, will be at or near the top of this league in men's basketball year after year.
I hope they make a good hire, because as much as I want SDSU to continue being a contender each year, I also want the league to continue to raise its overall profile as a mid-major conference.
The Zen philosopher Basha once wrote, 'A flute with no holes, is not a flute. A donut with no hole, is a Danish.'
The same xDSU's have knocked them out of the Summit League Tournament 2 of the last 3 years.

Average ACT score of the 2015 DU freshman = 27
Average GPA of the 2015 DU freshman = 3.7
While I know schools like DU can likely get anyone accepted to fit their high profile sports teams, the culture of that school does not scream "public school basketball players". It screams the "Princeton offense type" that they currently have on their roster.
It will be interesting what the new coach can do. And please don't compare Duke to DU because their academic profiles are similar.
