No. Think of it this way you don't play for the coach you play for the school. A coach is a major reason kids choose certain schools but they should realize that said coach could be gone at any point.

      Negative

Q: If my coach leaves, can I transfer and immediately be eligible?
No. Contrary to popular belief, the departure of a coaching staff member does not grant a
student-athlete relief from the residence requirement on transferring.
However, there is a transfer exception for student-athletes transferring from institutions
that discontinue a sport, never sponsored the sport while the student-athlete was in
attendance, or reclassified the sport from NCAA Division I to Division III.
There also are other transfer exceptions (e.g., non-recruited student exception, return to
original institution without participation exception, two-year nonparticipation exception,
military service/church mission exception, etc.) that student-athletes may qualify for and
should consult their institution's compliance coordinator or call the NCAA membership
      services staff for more information.

What would be the selling point to a potential recruit to play in those types of schemes?
He must have had something to sell as the group of freshmen and sophomores they had were arguably the best group in the conference.

The thing is Denver doesn't have to be a slow, grind it out kind-of team. I get that scheme for places like Southern Utah who are located in areas were it's more difficult to bring in talent, but Denver is a major metropolitan area that should be able to land some athletes based on proximity alone.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least that the reason behind the AD's decision to make a coaching change has to with Joe Scott's brand of basketball.

Unless their scholarship is pulled, of course. There are rules for that also, I imagine.

Well the thing is his team could score points. They scored 18 in a row on us pretty easy the other night. Wonder why they don't just do that more. Control the game with a solid defense but allow those players the chance to shoot. They are clearly good at it. Its probably more frustrating for us fans.

I am curious to know what Joe got for a salary at UD or is it DU. He seemed to be a very good coach. Apparently, not a winning record every year and that what gets one fired.

And if he does not win, DU fires him.

The Denver style of play is painfull to watch. I mean it makes the Bison look up tempo! As a Jacks fan, I should love it because we match up well against them most times. My guess is they want to move it up tempo more and make it more exciting to draw some fans. Their style was fine when they were winning but they've really fallen off as of late.

They don't have much of a fan message board, so been looking for more information but have not found any. I doubt it is the style of offense that generated the walking papers. There may be a host of other factors that came into play such as annual attendance this year compared to nine years ago. The AD usually have a number of factors to elvalute the coaching performance.

This. Joe Scott was never going to deviate from the Princeton offensive and I think that was main rationale for his firing as he certainly won enough to keep his job.

I did find some discussion on the U of Colorado board. The reason it was discussed was that Rod Billups was an assistant at Colorado. A fan was saying that the AD at DU was a very aggressive person, she is a lady, and she has already fired their successful hockey coach. I suspect Joe Scott did everything possible to keep her happy, and dropping the close game to SDSU did not do him any favors. Maybe she did not like his offense either. I think the biggest factor was his nine years and what he was able to accomplish at DU, and that his where he came up short.

Joe Scott out as Denver Coach?

A new style of basketball coming to Denver. Will any of the players look to transfer?

I would guess not. Denver is a solid school, academically.
