He also has us in the Sioux Falls region. Would be pretty sweet to get a rematch with Notre Dame at the Denny!

Notre Dame will likely be placed in the Lexington, KY regional.

Sioux Falls. Notre Dame is ranked 1 in RPI and ahead of South Carolina in one of the polls.

Interesting matchup. Obviously playing them at home would be difficult. However, they did lose to DePaul and Arkansas. Both teams we defeated. We have had good luck against the SEC. I'll take that matchup over a Stanford game in CA.

realtimerpi.com has the jacks as a 13 seed playing Syracuse in Stanford, CA. While I think this seed is a little low it would be nice to be in the grouping they have us in as we would not play any "home" teams. The other two teams are West Virginia and Princeton.

I think this is an error on the RealTimeRPI.com site. Of the 4 teams at each site, the highest seed hosts. So the locations are fluid and move/change with the 16 highest ranked teams. We really need to pray for a 12 seed so we can play the 5 seed in the first round which won't be there home site. We would be at the site of the #4 seed.

You are correct. The jacks need to get at least a 12 seed to stay away from the host team in the first round

Yes,each region has four filler/satellite pods hosted by the 1,2,3,and 4 seeds in that region. These pods host the rd of 64 and 32,the survivor after these first two rds are sweet 16 participants and are sent off to the site hosting the regional. So,naturally, the best chance for a sweet 16 berth would be the weakest pod that is hosting, the #4 seed hosted pod,but the other first round game is tough too, the #5 seed. The other pods you'd have to go thru a #1,#2 or #3 seed to make the regional, much more difficult, but the first rd games are generally easier. It's a well thought out process .The big advantage getting a 12 seed over a 13 seed is avoiding the first rd game being played on the hosts court, but you'd get them the next game, assuming they themselves didn't get upset.

The four pods are the 1 vs 16 and 8 vs 9 pod, the 2 vs 15 and 7 vs 10 pod, the 3 vs 14 and 6 vs 11 pod, and finally the 4 vs 13 and 5 vs 12 pod

Looking back,in retrospect,at what we've been able to draw as a seed since 2009,our first year in the NCAA Tournament, until the present. Also who we played that year in the Tournament.

                        2009...............................7 seed......................TCU/Baylor
                        2010..............................14 seed.....................Oklahoma
                        2011..............................15 seed.....................Xavier
                        2012..............................13 seed......................Purdue
2013..............................13 seed......................S. Carolina (played on neutral court maybe, at Boulder,Co.?)
                        2014..............................missed.......... .............xxxxxxx
                        2015..............................14 seed......................Oregon St.
                        2016..............................

As you can see,we've never been able to escape playing on our opponents home floor, except for our inaugural year 2009,which was our best performance to date ,a win over TCU and a narrow 2 pt loss to 2 seed Baylor. This will likely change if we are fortunate enough to make it to at least the sweet 16. So much more respect is given to those teams that have accomplished that feat. The days coming, hopefully, when we will do just that.

Disclaimer:We did play S. Carolina the #4 seed at #5 seeds home court (Colorado, who lost to Kansas).Don't know what went awry there.

The game against S Caroline was at Boulder. It was a snowstorm that morning. It would have been much better to play Colorado that day. Kansas beat Colorado after the Jackrabbits had been thrashed by the Gamecocks. The Gamecocks had 2 very athletic players in the 6'5" height zone. The game was decided by halftime.

I remember the game vaguely, some gal named Bruno (?) was particularly tough on us.South Carolina has since become the powerhouse they are now.
