Later I went to their site, and found out the red headed guy is John Peckenpaugh, a former player who is now the graduate manager. His last season was 2012, but don't recall the guy at all. Any whoo, the Dons put up a better fight than SDSU would have as fatigue was clearly evident in the loss to IPFW.
I remember Peckenpaugh. He was a very hard nosed player and hit the floor a lot during his career. Kind of a Griffin Callahan, but in the post. Wore a facemask his senior year, if I'm not mistaken. All you need to do is look at the way he walks to see how hard he played at IPFW.

Never got a shot of how he walked, but I assumed he was a rugged player, and no doubt helps out with the post players. His bio at the IPFW website says he does the operational things like film exchange, but I sure he puts trunks on for practice and does a little bashing with Forbes. That seems to be asking for further punishment. That Forbes guy is a tank, who could not get his shots fall. Wright made one for him with goal tending call.

I would love to see NDSU win as many as possible, because the revenue sharing would definitely take a big bump. Sacrificial lamb? Yes but the NDSU senior team has a lot of poise and its going to take some doing to spoof them.
Fair enough. But unless it's just an exorbitant amount of money that comes in to Augie (via the NSIC) as a result of Mankato making it to the D2 Elite Eight, I'd rather take the hit on incoming revenue and not give the Mavericks any more advantages than they already have.

The easier solution, obviously, is Augie just winning instead. Then I wouldn't have to worry about it.

Either way, this is SDSU's forum. I probably shouldn't have tried to bring D2 basketball into it in the first place. Just figured I'd mention that I see where 6-4-3 Jackrabbit's coming from.

Stu retweeted something last night about how the best nickname for Steve Forbes would be Big Business. I thought that was hilarious.

I wasn't cheering for or against the Bison. I was cheering for a well played game (nope, but way better than our game against IPFW), and if not a well played game, a closely contest game. We got that, which was entertaining. I also thought it was awesome to see Braun step up in the last two minutes. That three he hit was massive (reminded me of a poor man's version of what Nate did to the Bison last year) and the shot down the lane for the and-1 was beautiful. I can appreciate great players making great plays.

If the Jacks couldn't make it, it was great to see a hard fought, nail-biter game between the two other 2006 Summit added teams. Further, IPFW has most been the Jacks "other than Bison" most long-term D-I only move-up foe. From the Great West scheduling alliance, IIRC, IPFW has been a consistent foe. They'll dance someday, and given how they did this season, they may get the nod as a pre-season favorite next year.

As the Indiana team with the most D-I wins this season, hope the NIT gives them a chance.

Both Omaha and IPFW have accepted invites to the CIT. Both will host opening round games based on various twitter reports.

Anyone else get a kick out of the IPFW band director? He really was into it. Yelling at the officials and one time throwing off his suit coat after a questionable call.

I didn't see that occasion, but I got a kick out of him both nights...yes even against us. He was dancing and grooving when the other band was playing, too. Seemed like a cool dude.

Braun stepped up and won the game for the Bison. Other than Wright flying around and cramming it a few times the other 38 minutes kind of sucked. When Braun blew by Forbes and then had the moxie and smarts to hesitate, draw the foul and finish to get the 3 point play and seal the victory right there...that's a basketball player.

Yes! He was a hot topic among our group. We even went so far as to look him up. His name is Marcus Farr. Dare I say it, he was one of the highlights of the tourney for us. Loved that guy.

My sources tell me our pep band director is retiring after this year. Let's go get Marcus. Does he have an agent?

Not only is he in my top 5 greatest IPFW pep band directors of all time, he is #1 by a wide margin.
