Seven tournament sessions at the Big Ten tournament. Total attendance: 21,706.

Five tournament sessions at the Big Twelve tournament. Total attendance: 20,885

Four tournament sessions at the Summit League tournament. Total attendance: 24,395

        --

        American : 5 sessions, 29,533
        ACC: 8 sessions, 54,908
        SEC: 6 sessions, 25,821
Big East: 3 of 4 sessions reported: 6,290

So, it looks like in cumulative terms, the Summit is sitting in 4th, and on a per session basis, they are sitting in 2nd.

West Coast attendence figures are a bit fishy.

WCC, like ORU attendance figures. Awesome attendance!! Sioux Falls way to shine. Couldn't have done it without you, Jackrabbit Nation!

That's amazing. Sioux Falls might become a regular round of 16 host also if enough people show up next year.

With the success Sioux Falls had this past weekend with the D2 Elite 8, Final 4, and National Championship games, I can only imagine what it will be like when teams like Notre Dame, Tennessee, Sanford, etc. (maybe even SDSU! ) show up to play at the Denny next year. The question will be if they will open all of the upper bowl. Sioux Falls is definitely showing it will be a contender as hosts of NCAA National Championships/Tournaments on the D2 and D1 level.

Now only if Sioux Falls can get the First Four or the 1st round for the men's D1 NCAA Tournament.....

The even more amazing WBB issue is that SLT did these attendence numbers, especially the semi's and final, ON WEEKDAY AFTERNOONS!!!!

That's a WHOLE LOT of fans that took time off from work to make it to Sioux Falls Mon./Tues.

These kind of attendance, interest are what drives AJ to stay at SDSU (along with he enjoys the small town, supportive community). We are very fortunate to have him at SDSU.

It will be interesting to see the attendance next year. I think the session that SDSU and USD didn't play in had a attendance around 2600. That is good but it just shows that a lot of fans follow the local teams. There are around 7000 when those teams play and about 1/3 of that when they aren't playing.

The DII elite 8 only had about 1500 fans or so at most sessions.

These are still good numbers but if you take SDSU and USD out of the mix, the attendance numbers are better than most places but not as great as the Summit League tourney attendance.

I could be wrong on some of this but this is what I heard.

The support for the SLT has been good for the entire time Sioux Falls has hosted this event. The WBB has always been competitive which kept interest the early years. Now the event has expanded interest with the Premier Center as well. There were many Jackrabbit fans attending from outside of the area that help increase the interest as well. The Yote fans increased some from last year, but their women did not always bring as much red to the crowd as the men. The weather was the best that could hoped for in the early part of March. Even the teams without their fans had to have a bit of adrenaline with the attendance. Meanwhile the rest of the Summit WBB coaches continue to pursue the standards set by AJ with the quality of the game and the support his teams receive.

What were the attendance figures for the D2 elite 8? I caught the Cal Baptist semi final game on TV. The arena looked mostly empty.

I think the SPC (Stanford Premier Center) scans tickets to enter, so they are butts in the seats pretty much. Maybe the Pentagon just goes with ticket sales, whether or not people use the seats?Just conjecture on my part.

SDSU has made the WBB championship 6 out 7 years, and USD was in the other year. So the "local" schools have created a solid foundation to be playing well into the tourney, that definitely helps. Not foreseeing any likelihood that SDSU or USD won't be making serious runs to the title games most tourneys.
