  • Re: Summit tourney, 2015

ESPNs prediction for the Men's Summit League Tournament:
*they really go out on a limb by picking the XDSUs and the preseason favorite, IPFW.

Summit (Begins Saturday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota)
Favorite: Pick a Dakota. South Dakota State and North Dakota State finished with identical 12-4 league records and split the regular-season meetings. The aptly named Jackrabbits of South Dakota like to score (averaging 72.9 per game) and the more lumbering Bison, fittingly prefer to stop people (they allow just 62.3 PPG).

Sleeper: IPFW. Let's face it, the tourney really could use some Mastodons, but it's not on nickname alone that IPFW earns a shot. The Mastodons beat both North and South Dakota State this season and won eight of their final 10.

        Good Argus coverage today.

I was looking through the "team capsules" on the WBB side and found this interesting. They list the "top eight contributors" for each team. This is the number of freshman/sophomores listed among those eight for each team. We all know the SDSU team is young, but this gives you a feel where the others stand in terms of youth.

        USD 2
        SDSU 5
        ORU 4
        WIU 2
        IUPUI 4
        NDSU 2
        DEN 5
        FW 3

No. Cody re-opened his recruiting after Todd Lickliter (former Iowa coach) got fired. His prescription drug incident happened after he re-opened up his recruiting.

If I remember correctly, the biggest factor was that Iowa had just fired their coach and the new coach McCaffery didn't think Cody was a fit for the program.

Sounds a little fishy as Iowa could have used the help, but I can believe it. Either way, he has had a roundabout career. SDSU is lucky to have him. He is a force to play against. I wish him luck at the next level as well.

Does anyone have an extra single ticket for Sunday night they want to get rid of? Our group dumped our Sunday tickets awhile back now one member wants to go.

Potentially the 1st upset of the tournament: Denver over NDSU Both games were fairly close this year, Brown is far from 100%, Denver remembers their 40 point beating last year against the Bison in Sioux Falls. Someone needs to step up for NDSU if they want a chance at the title this year with Brown down and the lack of depth. However, I wouldn't be surprised if the Bison win the whole thing,

The Bison 6th man, Werner, is not 100% either. He will play as much or more than Brown. If Amigo can go off down low, the Pioneers have a better chance of winning one.
