14? Which 5 schools do you think he's talking about? Wow
SIU-Edwardsville, Chicago State, UMKC, EIU, UND, UNC, NMSU and NKU could all be potential candidates I guess. Perhaps a few DII schools maybe, not sure who maybe Bellermine perhaps.

I would add UALR to that list. I think there is and outside chance that Belmont would be on the list as well. Maybe that is just wishful thinking.

Re: Summit League On the Rise

Of the 10 teams listed above, the only two that would increase the strength of the conference are Belmont and NMSU at least according to the Sagarin rankings. Just and indication of how strong the conference has become.

Is there a link to this conversation with Douple? I would be interesting in seeing the full context. And boy, I thought the Summit was hurting for having the required number for a baseball qualifier.

Pretty amazing how far we have come since we made the move. At that time we were happy with ANY conference, now were in a conference that seems to be able to pick and choose who joins. The fact that ORU came back to the conference is a pretty good indication we are in good shape moving forward.

Jeremy Hoeck of the Yankton P&D reporting the Summit League is going away from mirror scheduling next year. There will be a double headers, plus games can be played on any day of the week. Great news.

Jeremy is a great reporter and was named today at the Outstanding Young Journalist by the SDNA. He will have more details in tomorrow's Yankton P&D about the move away from mirror scheduling.

This is pure speculation, but I wonder if the move to games being played on any day of the week might be related to more Summit games being televised nationally?

Mirror scheduling has killed our attendance. No doubt about it. Would sure be nice to throw a couple DH's in there.

This is great news. Obviously, mirror a scheduling was a major issue from a fan's perspective. Spreading the Summit games out over more than just two nights will be great too. Why limit all the action to just a few hours per week? Double headers will definitely draw me up to Brookings more too.

                      Friday/Saturday night doubleheaders?

I wonder how double headers would work for NDSU, the men and women aren't even going to be playing in the same facility from what I've heard.

The game times for those doubleheader have yet to be determined, according to USD athletic director David Herbster. But he hinted at potentially having them at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. on a weekend, otherwise they would be back to back as normal.

Why on earth would they consider having such a long time between games?

That way, to see both games, you would have to buy 2 separate tickets. Also, it allows for the separate sale of mens, season tickets and womens' season tickets.
