Other than to come in here and say I'm not touching this thread with a 39-1/2 foot pole, I'm not touching this thread with a 39-1/2 foot pole.

I'll just say I'm not surprised.

I had something really amusing (well, I thought so, anyway) and satisfiying all typed up, but then I saw that this wasn't in smack. So I'll just let it go.

Life is tough in Division I. Lots of really good coaches lose an awful lot of games there.

So many of his offensive sets that he learned at Augsburg College and brought to Vermillion no longer work. Its a new world in D1 land. His counterpart at SDSU has had problems getting the right inside people and has had to tailor his program after Butler. I suspect Boots will have to do something similar.

I'd be shocked if he doesn't retire within the next 2 seasons. I have no inside information, just a feeling.

I would have told you, your nuts until I watched the SDSU-USD game and talked to a few people from Vermillion. He looked like he could care less, didn't get excited at all, looked beat, tired and old. I've talked to a few people from USD and they say hes looked like that all year, his 1 assistant does all the on the court coaching.

I would sincerely hope the crowing be kept to a minimum here, especially from any poster who ever called for Nagy's head. Personally, I hope he stays and has success a notch below the Jacks and seven notches above the Bison.

As a one time Nagy hater, I agree. If Boots stays and his heart is in it, he will turn things around at USD. He is too good a coach to expect otherwise.

Oh I agree; I love coach Boots. I just think he sticks around until Jordan graduates and then Joey James will take over. Once again, just a guess.

Go down to SDSU's and check out the defensive stats. USD has made a name for itself, in a bad way.

The Yotes could still finish at .500, granted not likely. Currently sit at 7 - 14 on the season and have 7 remaining games, of which 6 are at home in the Dome.

Which would put them in the conference tournament. 2 wins into the championship game and there ya go.....a winning record. The streak is intact, I'm predicting it here.

IDK if you are being sarcastic or not, but USD is not eligible for the conference tournament. So even if jesus christ comes down and suits up for the Yotes and they win 7 games in a row they won't be eligible.
