Ndsu 80, oru 74
(Merged the following from a separate thread): Not sure about details but with 11 seconds to go and the Bison up 75-72, a technical foul was called on ORU...Coach Sutton took offense about some call made by the officials and was ejected. NDSU's Mike Felt puts in a total of 6 free throws. (source: LiveStats on GoBison.com.) Final ended up 80-74.

Re: Sutton Meltdown
Oral Roberts down two, NDSU with the ball difference between game and shot clock around 10. Oral Roberts gets a steal and is fouled on the tying layup but no call. ORoberts then forced to foul with 10 secs left and send felt to the line. Sutton protests the no call on the break away and gets the first technical. Shortly after gets the second and is restrained from confronting the refs. Walks down, shakes the hands of the NDSU coaches and players, and walks out.

Re: Sutton Meltdown
Just to add on...
Sutton wouldn't leave after being ejected. He argued with the ref for another minute or two, then walked down the NDSU bench shaking the hands of all the coaches and players. Now that wasn't because of sportsmanship. To get to the ORU locker room, he had to walk back the other way. That gave him a chance to yell at the ref some more and continue to drag the whole thing out. All in all, one of the weirder things I've seen.
And it did cost ORU a chance to tie or win the game.
edit: smoothjack beat me to most of it

Re: Sutton Meltdown
The last time I have seen a coach ejected at a game was at a NCC tourney in SF about 1987 and it was a game involving Morningside and some one else. The Morningside coach did not last long as they soon replaced him. I doubt this will happen at ORU. I suspect Sutton was trying to rally his troops. So look out SDSU on Saturday. This outrage just might work.

Re: Sutton Meltdown
First time I've seen a coach ejected but I did see WIU's coach chase the refs off the court at the end of the game last year at the BSA.
Saul actually went out to the middle of the court to stop Sutton from going after the ref. Then Sutton turns around and shakes everyone's hand(even the water guy).
Finally he slowly walked across the court to the visitor's locker room jawing with the ref the entire time. I guess that same ref has given Sutton five technicals and supposedly he wasn't supposed to be reffing this game in the first place.Last edited by FargoBison; 01-06-2011, 11:21 PM.

We should call Patty V. and see of any of the Valley ref's have free time.. (I meant football but I'll take what I can get) they are pretty solid.
