Re: College Game Day Coming to Fargo
Couple of things.
1) This does nothing but help NDSU and make it harder for the rest of us to recruit and compete against them. There will be little talk of FCS and probably next to none about the rest of MVFC. While they have earned it by their performance I believe Montana should have been the FCS representative. They have the long time history and pedigree in this division and who can forget that snow filled playoff game on ESPN from a few years back.
2) Gameday often sets up away from the stadium so this is not surprising. The surprising part is the focus on the City of Fargo and not NDSU. Everything I see on TV is Gameday Fargo, not Gameday NDSU. When the Gameday set is not at the stadium they are normally on campus somewhere. When Gameday came to Iowa City they set up on campus a couple miles from Kinnick Stadium. I know, I was there.
3) A previous poster is correct in that the rest of the country is oblivious to what goes on in the Dakotas. A few years ago I met someone from Chicago who still thought the Dakotas was a territory and asked how it was dealing with all the Indian attacks. Huh? Yeah, I know, and they were serious.
4) The pressure is definitely on the rest of us to keep up with NDSU. So from that sense that rising tide will raise all ships because the rest of the MVFC is going to need to pick it up to compete. Facilities projects at both State and the U show me we are both taking steps to compete with the Bison.
