    Re: Fargo Flood

Just gotta post this cause it was part of the discussion earier:

Fargodome sandbag operations cleanup to cost $398K
Sobolik said the top-down cleaning will begin as soon as possible, starting with the catwalks, which need to be vacuumed, blown off and wiped down.

Eight-inch-wide beams that support the dome’s lights and sound system also must be cleaned for safety because sound and lighting crews have to walk on them, he said.

Munters will clean the air ducts inside and out, wipe off video screens and scoreboards and vacuum the concourse walls, among other duties. Dome staffers and temporary on-call workers will clean the lower levels and main arena floor, Sobolik said.

    ...

Fargo Finance Director Kent Costin said the city has received strong assurances from FEMA that the dome cleanup will be an eligible cost for federal reimbursement.
I'm pretty happy at the moment(about the total cleaning, not necessarily the fed money).

Hey Hammer, they are waiting until everything has passed right? Would hate for them to start cleaning only to have to fill up the place with sand again.

Nope, they're going ahead with the cleaning quickly so the dome is ready for the Harlem Globetrotters on the 15th. The odds that we will need the dome for any sandbagging activity are extremely low. Remember, the dikes are already in place and 500,000 sandbags are sitting ready on pallets. If more are needed, they'll use the garbage facility like every other year(it has about the same floor space and the three semi-automatic sandbagging machines). If the Fargodome is needed for anything, it will be as an emergency shelter. And it needs to be clean for that.

For those that don't know, the National Weather Service announced today that they feel a second crest of 41 feet is a 75% probability for late April, and a 42 foot crest is at 25%. The record crest we set a week ago was 40.82 feet.

That's pretty much why I asked the question. I would suppose they are in good shape for 41' but if it gets to 42' they are going to need more bags.
