Right on NightHawk...the rep points just are one indicator of whether your posts are valued or not...no need for attribution.

      Re: What Are Rep Points?

Can we go anywhere to see who has the most rep points similar to looking at total posts?

I couldn't find it! Your reputation is everything!

There is a scale-looking icon at the top right of each post that you can give positive or negative rep points.

I agree we don't need to see who gave the points, but is there a way to see the comments that you need to add to give them?

You can't teach an old dog new tricks, but you can never teach a stupid dog anything.

You only need to give a comment if you give someone negative remarks. You'll see any comments that have been made if you click on the "User CP" button and look at the box "Latest Reputation Received."

                  Re: What Are Rep Points?

To answer a couple questions that have popped up on this thread...

                  1. Subscribed Threads:
On very large message boards(AGS and above), sometimes a thread can drop to the second, or even third, page within a day. This can be frustrating if you're trying to follow a conversation or you've posted a question that needs an answer. To address this problem, the creators of this message board software added the 'Subscribed Threads' option. This allows you to easily keep track of threads that are important to you, even to the point of emailing you if a new post is added to the thread. Since the creators assume that any thread you've posted on should be important to you, posted-to threads are automatically subscribed to by default. Personally, I don't think this board is large enough to warrant that(neither is Bisonville), so I've turned off that feature. If you want to do the same, go to User CP>Edit Options>Messaging & Notification>Default Thread Subscription Mode and set the dropdown menu setting to 'Do not subscribe'.

                  2. Comparing Rep Points:
While non-admins can't see exactly how many rep points others have, you can somewhat see how you rank by clicking 'Members List' in the top bar and then sorting by rep points(click 'Reputation'). At the moment, no one has 50 points or more, or less than zero, and only 38 members have between zero and 9(a few Yote fans and some brand new members who haven't posted enough yet to count - members who joined prior to the migration were bumped up to 10 points no matter whether they've posted or not).

                  3. Rep Point Levels:
They've been posted before, but for now all we need are the lower ones. If you hold your cursor over a reputation dot(green, for the most part), a little message will appear. Zero to 9 will get you a "unknown quantity" message, 10-49 is "distinguished road", and 50-149 is "famous soon enough". At 100 points, a second dark green dot will join the first, and the thrird comes at 200 points. Since most users are only giving 1-3 points per comment(89rabbit is the king at 10pts per), I don't expect anyone will go beyond 200pts for a while.

                    Re: What Are Rep Points?

Can we change how points are spread out? I'm getting the "you need to distribute points to other users before you can give this person points" message. I've given many points to other people since the last time I've given certain users points and I'm kinda frustrated with that message.
