OK, the gig is up. I'll put this disclaimer in the first post of this thread, to make it clear that friend Coyote_Fan did not in fact title the thread with its current title:

I, Filbert, do here warrant and assert that I did in fact, on or about March 9, 2010, alter the title of a thread on the SDSUFans.com discussion board from "USD's TItle as the Best Team in the Dakotas Secured" to "USD's Title as the Best Team in the Generally Weak Conference Secured."

I did this for comedic and smackish effect, and specifically to tweak the tender sensitivities of one person who participates on the board under the screen name of "Coyote_Fan," who in my opinion is just generally too tightly wrapped around the axle and invites response in kind and better when he posts things like the above on college athletics fan discussion boards.

I specifically disclaim responsibility for the fact that he can dish it out but is unable to take it, and specifically state that I believe that "Coyote_Fan" is in no way representative of the general fan community of the University of South Dakota. Or at least I hope so.

This I do swear before the users and readers of SDSUFans.com, on this Tenth Day of March, in the Year of our Lord Two Thousand and Ten.

A couple friends who happen to be Uperiod grads and I were discussing football/basketball schedules. We came to the general consesus that had Uperiod played the same schedules they would have gotten maybe a third to half as many wins as the respective programs.

Of course it started out with the yoties thinking they could have done just as well until wer really started breaking down the schedules and teams.

CF, are you related to Lakesbison? He has the same feelings on WBB. Every post you makes you look dumber and dumber. Your posts reak of jealousy. From you trying to state that SDSU's women championship is not justified to the football team's GWFC title. Remember, you came on here puffing your chest about your men winning the GWC MBB conference. You won the regular season. Now go win your conference tournament. We can puff our chest too since our tournament win actually sends us to a tournament that actually matters. Regular seaon conference championships mean nothing if you can't win the conference tournament. Thats the way it goes. There is only one conference sends its regular season winner to the NCAA tournament. That is the Ivy League since they...wait for it...don't have a conference tournament. When you try and bring down SDSU a peg with your arguements, you bring yourself down two.

So just keep right on winning in girls basketball and go play ring around the rosie
Wow. Do you have any sisters?

Every school that fields a women's basketball team cares about women's basketball. Every player on every roster cares about women's basketball. Every parent and sibling of those players care about women's basketball. Not to mention there are probably a couple million people that attend women's basketball games every year.

Judging by the DII championship game a couple years ago, about 3000 USD fans care about women's basketball. Weren't you spouting off on this very board how you went to that game? By the way, how did your "homecourt" advantage work out for you in that game?

How is USD's baseball team doing? I'm sure they will dominate the Great West. Yesterday SDSU beat #14 Arkansas.

Well of course he/she is already making excuses. He/She is a Coyote fan. I believe that many down there take Victaology 203. I have heard it is all about not having to take responsibilty for their own shortcomings.

Of course I better be careful. After all, I would hate for PrairieWolf_Fan to accuse me of violating some type of law. Of course, since Filbert evidently "stole his/her identity" this could just be Filbert posing as CF.

Someone call the CSI folks. I think that we have an investigation brewing.

I would feel bad as an Oral Roberts fan right now. They worked hard all year to get the #1 seed only to play a game against the #3 in a relative home game for the 3 seed. I personally hope that the tourney stay in Sioux Falls but the other side of me says that in the name of fairness it is not right to have the tourney be in the same place for a number of years regardless of team strength.

SDSU got to the tourney by being virtually at home. Anyone with any common sense knows that Oral Roberts is the true conference champions. Have you ever noticed that the only time SDSU teams ever seem to do anything is when they get some sort of home court advantage. The football team had an unbalaced schedule when they won the Great West. The SDSU womens basketball team needed home court to win their tourney. They almost certainly would not have won it on a true neutral court or at Oral Roberts. When is the last time your mens basketball team or football team has done anything of substance on the road. Always relying on the big home court advantage, never able to do it on even ground.

and which is better? being a conference tourney champ and if youre in vermillion, taking the nets down as your reward. OR winning the conference tourney and going to the ncaa tourney(and taking the nets down) as your reward? wnit or ncaa?

One hot summer's day a Coyote was strolling through an orchard till he came to a bunch of Grapes just ripening on a vine which had been trained over a lofty branch. "Just the thing to quench my thirst," quoth he. Drawing back a few paces, he took a run and a jump, and just missed the bunch. Turning round again with a One, Two, Three, he jumped up, but with no greater success. Again and again he tried after the tempting morsel, but at last had to give it up, and walked away with his nose in the air, saying: "I am sure they are sour."

Congrats on winning a few conference titles in a couple weeks, SDSU won two in ONE DAY.

We have several Summit League titles already, including THREE by the SDSU women's basketball team. Say what you will about no one caring, but I bet you would care if the USD women were half as good as the SDSU women are this year. And this was a down year for the Jacks.
