To most Rabbit fans they just take out of something what they want to take out of it. It used to be that USD would struggle in D1, now that they are having success in a D1 conference it's got to be the weakness of the conference. The Great West football conference used to be the best thing ever for SDSU, now it's a nothing conference. Convenience is always and easy way out for a hypocrite. Always an excuse for Jackrabbit fans. You'd think they'd have come back to earth after many years of futility out of their basketball program but obviously they never learn. Cain would have 5 dunks and about 8 swats against Suck Dakota State University.

The more I think about it USD wins by 8 in Frost and by 20 at home.
You do realize that this would make you the University of Suck Dakota, don't you?

They are winning road games against actual D1 competition something that SDSU was not doing much of during their second year. Make all the excuses in the book about Cain graduating but it's not like the Yotes are gonna start recruiting a bunch of D2 players to replace them. Actually they are still in the process of fully stocking the cupboard with D1 recruits.

By the way another D1 road win for the Yotes today over Texas Pan American. USD has gotten 3 road wins in their first 4 road games which says alot compared to the 20 something straight road losses in a row for the Jacks against Summit League competition. The Summit is better but not so much so that it excuses such a discrepency in road performance. The Yotes are definately ahead of where the Jacks were in year two. Despite improvement barely beating Centenary and Western Illinois on the road is not enough to make me think USD could not compete with and beat the Jacks. Jacks probably win in Frost but I am fairly confident that USD wins in Vermillion.
youre seriously on here bragging about beating a 3-20 team? it was a nice comeback after being down 16 at the half. a loss and we wouldnt have heard from you in weeks or months.

Maybe during the first basketball games between the two schools they could allow dead animals in the building by each school. They could call it the "anything goes get it out of your system" series. One game in each building for one year only. They could have a planned media timeout during the game where everyone would throw their dead coyotes, rabbits, carrots, superballs, beer bottles, combs, eggs, tomatoes whatever as long as no one would get hurt. Everyone could get it out of their system so the basketball could take over thereafter.

I am not here bragging just responding to a post started by a Rabbit fan basically taking aim at the Coyotes. Just here to defend the Yotes.

Did I ever mention that back in the D-II days, I always wanted to throw a dead Viking out on the court at an Augie game?

It would have been hilarious . . .

i dont think jack fans have anything to get out of their system. what is so cool about throwing dead animals on the court? just never saw the fun in that. we're in division one now, need to put the past behind you. go to the prairie and bowl some frozen animals down the alleys before you come north. get it out of your system before you come. it is still called the prairie, isnt it?

I was listening to the Kansas-K-State pre-game show on the Jayhawk Radio Network, and they were talking to various people about the prospect of chickens being thrown out on the court (Jayhawk=chicken, ya?).

One of the KU players being interviewed said something like "yeah, I've seen a chicken or two in my time here" or something like that.

Doesn't mean it's any less juvenile, but it's not limited to the various nippers at the heels of SDSU . . .

What USD and SDSU had in their basketball rivalry was so much more (or less as some believe) than what the Summit currently has for rivalries. The rivalry was arguable the best basketball rivalry in D2. Even in big games against other NCC schools the excitement level wasn't even close to what it was during a USD-SDSU game. I don't think rekindling the rivalry is taking a step backwards away from D1 but instead is lifting the Summit League up to a higher standard on what fan excitement should be about. The deafening roar at both venues during old rivalry games was something to behold. I can't say I have ever been to a SDSU home game that didn't involve USD but I have a hard time believing that the excitement level has been too much higher in most circumstances. USD had home games where the crowd was loud and it was very fun but on average the SDSU game was just a different game all together. I wonder if W Illinios and Oakland have ever had a rival as big. When IUPUI and IPFW get together I wonder what that atmosphere is like. Does Centenary and Oral Roberts really get hyped up for each other? I think the SDSU rivalry probably has as much or more raw excitability as most Big 10 games have in their arenas.

Not to put a damper on the prospects of carcass-throwing returning as an Olympic sport in the SDSU-USD series but a Jackrabbit cheerleader was seriously hurt in the mid-70s after being hit on the head with a frozen something or other. If memory serves me I believe she missed a semester of school with what we now call post-concussion syndrome.

I did to. What a sight.

And for those that think SDSU didn't ever do bad, I was there when dead coyotes were thrown as well.

Dead animals should probably stop and some civic order restored, but bet the farm (if an SDSU grad) or your business (if USD grad) that something will happen.

Really don't think SDSU would worry about Smith. Cain is a good player. Put a health Feigen in the game and Cain can't just sit in the paint waiting for backside blocks. Don't know why we are talking about the game when we know it isn't going to happen this year.

When was the last time a coyote was thrown on the court? I know in the late 80s there was one. Don't think there was one after that (maybe I'm wrong).

The last game against USD at Frost there was a student who threw a coyote head onto the floor... so you may be only "partially" right bub94

That's the thing, he doesn't sit in the paint. I've seen him block multiple shots from the corner and also at the top of the key. You really have to watch him play; Tyler is amazing. He closes so quickly and with such athleticism it is scary. He is also the best rebounder I have ever seen at USD or out of anybody I've seen on SDSU this year. He would eat Tony Feigen alive. No offense to Tony, who I'm sure will be a very good player at SDSU, but no way would a less athletic freshman do anything against Tyler Cain. He is that good. I really wish some of you could have gotten to see him at Frost during his career. He is special, fun to watch because he plays the game hard.
