I ALWAYS cheer against the Yankees. I ALWAYS cheer against Notre Dame. I ALWAYS cheer against Tiger Woods. And I ALWAYS cheer against USD. I LOVED it when they choked the DII womens basketball. Its genetic. No excuses. No apologies. ALWAYS.

Depends on what kind of USD fan's I have been around proximate to the date of the game.

I think this is part of my answer and the other part is who they play.
Oakland's band had a rabbit with a noose around it's neck. They were stomping on it. When they beat SDSU's men, they were chanting that the Arena was their house. That isn't all bad but I'm not a fan of things like that.
I know all schools have fans that are rowdy and that's up to them. I just think that I'd rather have a team win the has respectful fans, players, cheerleaders and officials.
I'd probably take USD over teams like Oakland and Oral Roberts but I'd take NDSU over them.
This all depends on what sport it is too. I know a few people that play for USD in some sports.
In other words, I have no clue. It depends on the circumstances.

My wife and I once drove to St. Cloud (from Brookings) to watch their men's basketball team play in the regional finals. We went and cheered for them because they were a fellow NCC team. Would I do the same for the Coyotes:

1) Not if it was played in the Dome.

2) Well...ummm...ahhhhh...depends on whether there is a change in the attitude and behavior at USD now that they have moved to a higher level...will their official ticket takers still wear t-shirts with slogans demeaning their opponents (something you have never seen and never will see at SDSU)...will I sit in front of a USD official who curses (including the now officially accepted f-word), will USD security officials actually eject a Coyote Crazy who harasses the visitor's bench players in a demeaning way?

Actually I think some of that may change because the Summit League will take a harder stand on that kind of behavior I believe. If that is true...well, ummm, aaahhh...I'll think about it and make a decision at that time.

Good clarification MD, I can not root for the institution's teams. I want the U to be a successful school, but I can't root for their teams.

Nope, never. However, I have and will hope that the players do well. But just can not cheer/root for the institution.

I'll support the institution, the students, and the athletes. However, I am not a coyote fan. Maybe that makes sense, maybe that doesn't. I'm a Jackrabbit fan and that by my definition means that I hate the coyotes.

i will cheer for usd to win the summit tourney and go to the big dance, as long as the jacks have already done it first. otherwise its going to be hard to do.

"If USD played anyone other than SDSU for a tournament title, or a national title, would you as Jack fans cheer for USD or hope they get their butts handed to them?"

Depends on what kind of USD fan's I have been around proximate to the date of the game.

My youngest son and I drove two hours to Midland, Michigan when the coyotes played Northland Univ. in the D2 football playoffs a few years ago. And yes we cheered for the coyotes, Pres Abbott and his wife were close friends of my mother when she was alive.

I KNEW this survey sounded familiar. YFE, you've already polled yourself on the flip side, as stated in this excerpt from your December post on a "Coyote Athletics" string!!! (bolditalics added)

You raise a really good issue IF I asked to poll myself. The question was would you as a SDSU fan cheer for the Coyotes in a tournament or championship final. This really isn't hard NoVa

I think I have been consistent. Don't answer the poll if you can't understand the question. In fact, kill the thread. Only 2-3 have answered honestly.

I just want to know if you would cheer for or against.....now when I went to college (years ago) it wouldn't have been regarded as a tough question.

I won’t cheer for USD unless they’re:

A) Playing an FBS opponent; OR
B) A USD victory directly helps SDSU
