An article in today's Argus Leader contains a Q and A interview with USD Athletic Director Joel Nielson, which I think answers the questions about whether USD is going to be having a new basketball facility anytime soon. Nielson says they are "following" the UNI example, which means they didn't add a separate basketball facility outside the UNI Dome for many years. He also noted "planning would start" when they get down the road a few years. I.e, they haven't started any planning yet...and probably won't for the next few years (or decades?).

As alluded to by cowbell, today's trying economic times are creating interesting dilemmas for many institutions and businesses. Tom Osborne just announced that plans to upgrade the basketball facility by building a new one or improving the current one in Lincoln are on an indefinite hold. Its going to be a difficult couple of years and we need to continue to support SDSU as best as we can.
