Ask around at USD, and you'll find somebody who knows about it. It happened, and it is a big part of why we're not scheduling USD any time soon.

I have never heard of that before from anyone in conversation or on a message board EVER. That is why I ask for the link because whether it's true, rumor or whatever usually I hear about those things. I am not saying it's not true but would just like to know where that is coming from. Stories like that can definately be true and can also be blown way out of proportion or be completely false.

Why did Oien deserve the criticism? Since when does a family problem become a public issue? You seem to have forgotten that Dr. Oien offered his resignation that was turned down by then President Miller simply because she had compassion for her employees who have domestic problems, but are valued employees. Oien worked very hard during the transitition and SDSU would not be outdrawing the bed pan folks(augie-usd) for a football game, 6545 to 5500 on a balmy Oct day were it not for the leadership of Dr. Oien. Folks from USD wanted Oien and Miller to fail in the transitition to D1. As far as I am concerned its not sterotyping. USD has been playing the role of Second Hand Rose in trying to compete with SDSU for decades. Its about time someone came up with a clever tee shirt. We need more of these. When usd finds a way to be classy, I just might respect the bed pan folks.

I hate to hash this subject over again (as it was beaten to death years ago) but since you seem desparate for an answer from Coyote Fan, I will answer for him. I think the reason he said Dr. Oien deserved criticism is because he beat his wife and tried to keep her from calling 911. Hopefully that will answer your question and hopefully this topic doesn't need to be discussed anymore.

Don't try to reason with a SDSU fan because you will never get an objective answer. Actually it difficult to come to any logical conclusion from a SDSU fan because they will always give you the same B.S. answers whether they are true or not. For example when trying to get a good honest gage on a SDSU program you can truley never know. If a given team is bad you wouldn't know it because that team will be hyped up as being good regardless. It's like the boy that cried wolf. If you do it enough times outsiders won't believe it's true even if it is. The best example is the SDSU mens basketball program. BunnyJack fans are holding onto the past and always thinking "this year will be different". Eventually if they say that for 20 years in a row they may eventually be right and say "I told you so" eventhough they had to be wrong 20 times first before they were finally right. But that's the mentality so don't try to change it. Didn't Western Washington play UC Davis tougher than the Jacks did today?

Okay you have stated very briefly what happened. Who among us has not had family problems of some sort? Are they a subject of ridcule that includes tee shirts? No generally not. Is IT any wonder why USD has never been given the light of day in future scheduling? I hope this continues and by the way. Dr Oien I repeat offered his resignation. President Miller said no thanks, we need you as our Athletic Director. Family problems should never be a source of ridicule, nor should feces be scattered around the opponents dressing room. What makes juice and Coyote Fan think USD is perfect? They are not an there is decades of records that substantiate this conclusion. Good luck in finding a conference and finding the funding to having a half assed D1 program. BTW Coyote fan have you noticed the red box in the right top corner of your post. What does it mean?

Interesting that you bring it up. Western Washington defeated UC Davis on September 1 by a score of 28-21. SDSU beat UC D 28-21. Exact same score. That makes Western Washington on an even par with SDSU. Since USD beat Western Washington 24-10. That means that USD is at least 14 points better than SDSU. Never mind the WWU game was at the dakota dump. But that usually how Coyote Fan's logic works. What was the score of the Central Washington and USD game? Oh thats right a road game, that game does not count. Bthe way I noticed Coyote fan used the term Bunnyjack. Is that a coincidence that SD4ever uses that same term? Could it mean that SD4ever and Coyote Fan are the same person? hmmmmmmmmm

Yes, because no team ever plays tougher or with more intensity in conference games on homecoming than they do against out-of-conference, lower division teams. And of course no team is ever better by the ninth game of the season than they were during their season opener, a letdown game against a nobody D2 team from a foot-in-the-grave conference.

Coyote_Fan Logic:
-- Road games don't count
-- Homecoming is a gimmick (real teams can draw a whopping 6,100 fans by just scheduling a conference game against Minnesota State, Mankato)
-- Rushing yards may be substituted for a final score (especially when you lose 31-7)
-- Comparing scores is a useful way to compare team (unless one of those teams is Central Arkansas)
-- USD fans epitomize sportsmanship and would never poop in an opponent's lockerroom
-- If you can't link to a story about an incident, it didn't happen; ergo, everything on the Internet is true, and all truth may be found on the Internet
-- Personal attacks are all in fun; Catchy t-shirts using the letter "U" are offensive or even racist
-- 36 > or = 63

You state that making the reference against an institution is the same as making the reference against a race. Members of an institution have made a choice to be affiliated with the institution, and most importantly have the choice to disassociate themselves with that institution. Members of a race cannot do either of those. So how is it the same?

I'll try Nidaros' route, why haven't you answered this question? Juice, go ahead and take a shot at it, since Coyote_Fan didn't answer the Nidaros' question in his response.

Well, I was in Sioux Falls yesterday with BHM and sdsurulz08 before the UC-Davis game and SDSU was the most represented collegiate apparel among SF shoppers. NDSU, Iowa State, and Harvard all had as many backers as USD...

I must have been at the other end of the mall when you saw them...needless to say, that doesn't speak well for USD's fan base when they're outnumbered by Cyclone supporters in SF...especially since the Cyclones are 1-8 and battling the Gophers for D-I incompetency in the Midwest...

In today's Trib, Souhan said NDSU is the best FB program at any level in MN, IA, and "Dos Dakotas." Can't remember right now if the column was on the Vikings or the Gophers.

Be careful pointing fingers Each time you do there are 3 pointing back at yourself. We don't need a law school in Brookings. Most of the problems in South Dakota and nationally are caused because of too damm many lawyers.

1bunnies: Your last sentence is not appreciated, whether offered sincerely or in jest. SDSU's Alumni Association has many lawyers in its ranks...likely more than you would have guessed.
