    Re: Tuesday's Nightmare

Unfortunately the game will be in SF and, unless they bring theirs down from Fargo, there won't be an announcer that will tell them to rush the court.

Not going to give you a pass on this one RR. I'm not sure if you were in the arena or not, but your fans had USD fans outnumbered at least 8 to 1, and as I told JackJD, I was shocked at how quiet you were. Actually our crowd cheered harder and was far more vocal than yours. The astounding fact is your crowd only cheers when you're ahead or just have taken the lead. Listen, no sour apples here, you won the game fair and square, and I hope nothing but the best for you in the dance, but don't go brag on your crowd. They were there large in numbers but very quiet throughout. It was not the home court advantage it should have been. You actually reminded me of USD fans that day.

I can call you on that one YF. I was at the women's game and the Jackrabbit fans were up and cheering for many of the defensive stands when the Jacks were behind. Tough to paint us a fair weather when we show up that big.

First of YF, the yotes were outnumbered by at least 10 to 1. Also, the bands and students from most schools are the only cheer for most schools. The jack band is not experienced as a cheer squad since most any game at Frost the crowd makes most of the noise. You are correct on the timing of the cheers to a certain level. If you go to the tape there was vocal fan support on nearly every little run made(which was playing from behind most of the game), it was not when the jacks were leading since it would have been much quieter if it was only during the leads. It should not be a home court advantage, but it was clear who was sitting in the chairs. If you go back to the Sunday game for the women, I will give that more red was in the crowd than the men's game. Also, I will remind you that the 5000 in the building the jacks still outnumbered the yotes at least 10 to 1. The yote fans at this point are not at all like the "quiet" Jack fans since the Jack fans showed up. Maybe a few of the red will realize that Amy Williams has been doing a good job and that she has some talent on the floor. Then it is possible we will find how much noise comes from the people not in the band or student section. 2015 will bring more adequate seating to find if the yote fans will follow the jacks in supporting the tournament.

I didn't paint you fair weather, and don't read into the post something that isn't there. I gave you kudos for your numbers. Our numbers suck and continue to suck. But many of your posters make it sound like the roof was ready to come down. And I will argue with you that the crowd got into it in a big way when behind, because they didn't. Some did, yes. The majority, no. That should have been a huge home court advantage and it wasn't. Don't argue just because I wear red. You have some shortcomings you might not want to admit. Still I wish you good luck

10 to 1 is more accurate, but then someone from this board would have said 8 to 1. Just how it is. If I said most State fans wore blue, many on here would argue that as well.

If this time-tested "But our small crowd was louder per-capita than your big crowd" butt-hurt remedy does cause your symptoms to subside, there are other treatment options. I suggest talking to your doctor about another traditional remedy know as: "But your team is losing their star after this year and we are up-and-coming". Then there are always the classics: "But the refs cost us the game" or "But we played like crap and beat ourselves". You can learn more about these standard butt-hurt remedies at Bisonville. However, if these traditional treatments fail to ease your pain, perhaps going with an alternative medicine such as "But your fans are all farmers" might be worth a try. Trust your doctor, and good luck.

Since this is a smack thread, I'll answer this with: We SDSU fans never really thought we had to 'turn it up to eleven' against USD. We had that game in the bag from the opening tip. Mainly, we know that our team gets behind primarily to make things more interesting for the ESPN crew--and to taste the sweet, sweet tears from our opponents when they dangle the prize in front of them, and then cruelly snatch it away. (insert evil villain laugh). Just another routine championship game for us--been there, done that, got the hardware.

                  Again.

Thank you for playing, though, have these lovely parting gifts.

/OK, I thought the Yote fans that were there actually represented themselves very well and Amy W. has done a "whale of a job", ButSmack!!!

I am a tomato farmer and proud of it. Went to SDSU btw, but did not major in tomato growing, I guess that would be Horiculture.

I was not at the tourney, but loved how it turned out. YE you should be proud of your ladies, they silenced the crowd in the first half, and at least that is what I heard on the radio driving down to SF from Arlington on Tuesday Afternoon. The silence factor of SDSU fans can be contributed by the play on the floor. Be proud and until we meet again, SDSU fans will enjoy.

Our fans cheered loudly when our team gave us reason too. The day before against IPFW the roof was coming off, there was plenty to cheer about and it clearly disrupted the IPFW players and coach. The same thing occurred in the championship game. When the Jackrabbit players started to rally in the first half the crowd got very loud and disrupted USD's flow and resulted in Coach Williams not being able to get a timeout when she wanted one. Credit to Wilson and Seekamp, they shut our crowd up with some huge buckets. They don't make those and it gets even louder, way louder.

The same thing happened in the 2nd half, especially the last 5 mins. Again, thanks to USD making some huge plays and the officials making some untimely calls, both ends, many times the crowds momentum was halted. Throw in the under 16, 12, 8, and 4 minute timeouts and its hard to keep it rocking at all times.

I don't think you thought this through enough and due to being a bit envious your looking for anyway to lessen the significance of a much larger crowd, a 5th straight championship and a program you aspire to become more like. The Jackrabbit women have made the Summit tourney the success it is in Sioux Falls. That is a fact. Perhaps the coyotes could have done the same and will contribute to making it even better but the fact is, the SDSU women and their fans have proven it over and over again.

Nice try but your wrong. Keep your focus more on the coyotes while the Jackrabbits keep doing what they do, winning and filling up arenas.

Regardless of the number the Jacks fans come out in far greater numbers than Yote fans to support their teams. There are actual numbers to support that comment.. I was at the games and there was ample vocal support for the Jacks throughout the game. Its only natural to cheer louder when positive things happen.

I was at all the games. Don't have the actual numbers but even when the Jacks were not playing but the Yotes were there were similar Jacks / Yotes fans in the stands.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Jacks fans during the womens game had to pace themselves as they still had one more game to cheer at that same day! Jacks fans had to yell and scream at 6 games - Yotes 4! Hope the Yotes have an opportunity in WNIT? If they do I with them the best.

Exciting times to be a Jacks fan.

Not gonna lie, that thought did cross my mind during the game.

The awesome reason I like debating with you is your "way" of trying to make anyone that disagrees with you feel foolish or stupid. Such phrases as..."I don't think you thought this out enough" as your the great thinker of all time. Or how about..."you're wrong"...the simple little phrase that attempts to elevate your status amongst your peers because I'm in this lions den by myself. Well the truth of the matter Doc is just what I said, and you confirmed it or me. I said your fans were basically quiet or at lower levels until they took the lead. You confirmed what I said with your "well thought out post". YOU CHEER WHEN YOUR TEAM GIVES YOU REASON TO. Thank you for confirming. My point was your crowd didn't turn the game around, your team did without ALOT of help from the 12 to 1 advantage you had. If you were the dynamic crowd many of you claim to be, then Seekamp and Wilson wouldn't have shut you up. I'm not envious of anything SDSU. I admire your program, I don't discount it in any fashion, but I believe we have the pieces to make a run at you very shortly. When have I once diminished your program? I am just stating a fact, many (not all) believe you are the second coming of Dukes crowd. Get a grip. Give me a head count of how many fans go to the NCAA's. YF; If there was any reality to the support for the women's program in Vermillion, it should show up in attendance or even a bit of chatter in the USD women's thread. I know that the attendance was not great even though it is competitve with the UMKC and NDSU crowd. Without researching, I would guess closer to 1100 average than 1500. I am certain it feels satisfying to poke the Jacks on not being rabid enough in Sioux Falls while knowing what the behavior for misdemeanors might be in Vermillion with a large advantage. The Jacks took the punch from the yote women and played about as bad as they have in a game all year, but they figured out a way to secure the win. That is not a knock on the yotes team, but it is a grit this team has shown to finish games. As far as the noise, the evidence would be in a replay. If you can hear crowd on those, that is an indication it might be hard to hear on the floor. The first half had Amy using timeouts and Amy was trying to get officials attention many times during the game while the decibels rose. If you wish to turn the deaf ear to the evidence, that is your story and you can read it to yourself all you care.
