I'm not all about the "nicey, nice" with this one. Good for Florida dangling warm weather and hot girls in front of a kid from South Dakota. Let's not have everyone a year from now hoping Cody transfers to SDSU because things aren't working out for him at Florida (because we all know that's what will happen and that's what people on this board will do). If he doesn't want to represent South Dakota's Team then to heck with him. Onward and upward. To quote Dan Barriero (for those that listen to KFAN out of the Twin Cities) - "We don't need you!"
Florida has to be about the easiest recruiting sell in America. Nice weather, lots of girls, nice town, etc. About the only negative is that they are overshadowed by the football program. How they weren't successful before Donovan, I'll never know.

Didn't Larson say he was going to take his time in deciding which school to go to? What was that, like a week ago?
I wish him the best of luck, but he seems like a kid without much direction or anchor. Not exactly the optimum situation for an 18 year old 2000 miles from home in a town like Gainesville. Good luck Cody, represent SD well.
I'm surprised..... I'm not doggin on Cody's game but a 6'9" guy who isn't a true back to the basket scorer and doesn't have the quickest feet, after being suspended for most of the season just didn't seem like Florida to me..... Now I said the exact same thing about Joe K.

I had a feeling he might sign with Billy Boy, and hopefully he does well down there. He does have a lot of competition within his own recruiting class for playing time (I believe he is the 4th forward signed in Florida's 2010 class), but hopefully he uses the competition to his advantage and forces himself to work that much harder!
Apparently if Larson attends a Big Ten school he will be paying his own way all the way through college. The league has a rule that anyone who transfers within the conference is never eligible for scholarship money. Even though he was released from his LOI,the conference is still considering him a transfer for scholarship money purposes.
Seems like Larson is visiting Florida on Monday according to onlygators.com.
It is interesting to note that Florida has already signed two 4 star forwards and are thinking they might get a third with 3 star PF Will Yeguete leaning towards Florida and expecting to announce it on the day of Larson's visit. Wonder how much having 3 commit forwards in Cody's class would affect his decision on whether or not to attend Florida?
If this regulation does exist it seems a little rigid. I found this link to a document that outlines the rules for LOI for Michigan State for 2009. Though it does not mention this rule specifically, it does mention release procedures.
Just spoke with Gary Barta. There are some concerns in the Larson and Brust camp related to what they were led to believe about being released from their Iowa scholarships. They felt they could transfer anywhere including in the Big Ten. But there is a Big Ten rule that states players cannot transfer within the league and be on scholarship. They could pay thei own way but not get a ride
the two families feel this was no explained to them while Barta isn't sure that is the case or if they didn't understand it or if he didn't explain it adequately
the bottom line is this is a Big Ten rule not an Iowa rule. They can try to appeal to the Big Ten, but they are not pleased
this is now my own comment: I never felt iowa was going to get back in with Larson but I did think they had a great shot with Brust. I would not say that now
I don't think Gary Barta is to blame from a standpoint of doing anything unethical. By his own admission there was some breakdown in communication here.
Interesting comments, and being that the poster is the founder of the site, I'd say the chances of the post being accurate is quite high.
