If this regulation does exist it seems a little rigid. I found this link to a document that outlines the rules for LOI for Michigan State for 2009. Though it does not mention this rule specifically, it does mention release procedures.

Universities usually will not allow you to play within the same conference if they let you out of the LOI
Can you condition a release from a LOI? If Larson were off limits to any other Big Ten school, as a condition of his release (NOT parole terminology!! ), you'd think Ohio State & Indiana would've been informed ahead of time.

Interesting Big 10 rule. That may explain why no other Big 10 schools are being discussed in the rumor mill.

I'm hearing Florida, Kansas State and Nebraska in the hunt as are other schools.

im thinking if nebraska was my only choice, id go to sdsu before nebraska. they havent been to the big dance since 1998 and have only been there 6 times. i hope he doesnt end up at nebraska.

I was wondering the same thing. Universities usually will not allow you to play within the same conference if they let you out of the LOI. I'm not sure in this case, but if that is a conference rule then it does limit playing in the midwest somewhat.

Not sure why Indiana and Ohio St. have visited or will visit Cody if that is the case. I'm sure there are ways around it, but if I was Iowa and Cody ended up in the Big 10, I'm sure they would not be too happy about it.

Agreed. A lot of people regret things they did at 18 and learn from them and grow into great people. Good luck to Cody wherever he goes (pleeeeeeeease be SDSU?)

I just wish the kid good luck wherever he lands. I just hope it is soon so we can all just move on.

Here comes the bad news. We have 0% chance of signing Larson. Rumor has it Billy Donovan is coming into Sioux Falls tomorrow and Steve Alford and his wingman Ryan Miller next week sometime (by the way anytime I hear Ryan Millers name I cringe thinking of his performance at Frost..anyway at the D1 level I guess he can recruit like a madman....Solely responsible for Darrington Hobson going to UNM). With that being said I think we don't have a prayer. We really need to get some breaks going are way here soon. Hopefully we can get some JUCO's.

Hmm...I knew it was the Marquette coach but I just assumed it was Crean. Maybe I'm mistaken. Was Williams there as an assistant before he took over as the head coach?

AAU & college were a completely different story as he was allowed to play his more natural perimeter game.

From What I've seen Cody looks a lot more comfortable in the paint than Miller ever did (Which is where I see the similarity to Joe K.). I would agree that at this point he doesn't have the mental toughness, or basketball IQ that Joe K. had. I thought that the article comparring him to Miller was off base. If a player with the talent of any of the three were to don the Yellow & blue though I wouldn't complain in the slightest.
I agree with HoboJack. Watched Mike Miller play several times in high school and often wondered why all the hype. But, I recall Mitchell playing in Watertown Mike's senior year and there were a couple of times when Miller seemed to shift into a new gear and make a move that a high school kid just shouldn't be able to make. I've seen those "hints of what can be" with Cody Larson. He won't be coming to SDSU but he'd be quite a catch if he did.
