Why did Shaw take the job at USD in the first place? I've always wondered that.

He was not retained as offensive line coach at Minnesota when Mason was canned and Brewster was hired.After being let go,he burned a lot of bridges by supposedly ripping Brewster and The U of M to boosters and by calling in to a radio show and doing the same.He was popular with Minn.high school coaches and did a good job recruiting locally.

Fair question. As I understand it, he is good friends with Meierkort. Secondly, someone told me his daughter lives at Dakota Dunes (North Sioux City) and that is basically his only family.

Other than that doc, I have no idea. He's an ok sort of guy, but from what little I have been around him, if he is hired, I don't think Cal-Poly will put him on the speaker circuit.

I guess he has done a decent job, but really not sure. His credentials are good, and blood line is good, that's why I made the prediction.

Thanks, I figured it was a connection with Ed. Being a bit of a skeptic (especially as it pertains to USD) I thought maybe it was just a PR move signing a guy with credentials and a blood line. Again, thats probably just the skeptic in me.

I has heard those things and I understood Meirkort wanted to increase recruiting presence in Minnesota. I just didn't understand what was really in it for Shaw. No what I mean? If his daughter is in the Dunes then it makes a lot more sense to me.

I know a lot of people will dispute this,but he probably thought a job at USD was better than no job at all.

Now there is the kind of high class guy I would love to have on my staff. One who will rip his former employer and boosters to improve his image. Sounds a little childess to me. I would suspect after being let go after a head coaching change would be pretty normal? So, shut your mouth and move on like a big boy.
