If there were a playoff system, my money would be on Oklahoma. The domination on Saturday made me a believer. But alas, no playoff so I'm going with LSU though it makes me cringe. Too many offensive weapons and a nasty defense when they are healthy. Kansas over VT. The key will be special teams as always when a team plays VT because - after watching every KU game this season - I can say the jayhawk special teams are very weak. I have to disagree about them having a weak defense though. Georgia is too good and feels snubbed so I expect them to whip Hawaii. Oklahoma has the defensive speed to handle the zone read of WVU. USC hitting on all cylinders is scary good and rolls Illinois. interesting matchups in every game though!!

MJA - West Virginia?? Seriously? No, really, West Virginia?
I'm not always in step with Catch Em's opinions but I gotta agree with you on this one. Their vaunted 2 man offense has been held in check more than once this season by lesser teams than Oklahoma.
Also, you comment about watching the Jacks for a while and becoming a college football fan holds true for me also. I was a die hard NFL guy even buying the NFL ticket for 5 years in a row. Then got involved with the Jacks for the past 5 years now and I barely watch games on Sunday's any more. It is all about Saturday's now.

I am guessing that you just typed this wrong KU - you picked KU over VATech based on special teams which are weak for the Jayhawks.
I haven't seen a lot of KU games this year so I won't classify myself as an authority, but the two I saw their defense looked suspect at best. (NU and Mizz which should be similar to what VAtech will bring to the table).

I like their team speed. I'm like you, a Jacks fan. I really don't have a favorite BCS team, although I'll root for the Badgers now that I've lived here for almost 10 years. WV has a great coach and alot of team speed. I just think they'd give a slow Big Ten school all they can handle. Much like App St. did to Michigan. I forgot about Oklahoma. They looked really good last week.

I'm following suit here, my favorite football team is the Jacks. Friends ask what college team I like and I say the Jacks. They always give me crap if it isn't a Big Red or something like that. I do like the Big Ten, just from growing up and watching all the Mich-OSU games and the upper midwest location. But, with OSU's schedule (which you can't blame them because they play their conference teams) I just don't think they can handle LSU. I hope I am wrong, but my heart says OSU, but my brain tells me LSU. Speed kills.
More often than not I will root for the Midwest team, in this case Ohio State. However, the Big Ten Conf. is at such a disadvantage being off so long prior to playing in these bowl games. So I believe that LSU wins especially since the Buckeyes will have been off (51 days?) Wow, that's like the offseason for hockey.
I agree KU's defense looked suspect against Mizzou, but I don't think VT has an offense that can put up points like that and won't be bringing the weapons that Mizzou has. I was just stating that beamer ball would be key, not that VT would get the W. I should have been more clear. KU will have to play much better on special teams but I do expect them to win because I just don't think VT has the offensive firepower. That Nebraska game was ridiculous. The defense wasn't suspect, they just stayed home! It was a blast to watch though. It didn't lack entertainment.

I am NOT a USC die hard, my team is actually Florida State but I obviously haven't had anything in write to mom about for about 5 years now! I am however, a huge fan of Saturday football in general and USC is scary right now! After USC, I would put OU in the title game and let them have a rematch of the 2005 Suger Bowl to see who's better right now........Neither Ohio State or LSU makes the cut!
I was raised on 'Rabbit football and spent plenty of fall afternoons at CAS growing up.....For the longest time, I pretended to be either a Jackrabbit or a Viking in the front yard!!!
Don't worry about me getting offended or missing your sarcasm, CatchEmAll, I would actually prefer some of that as opposed to relentless and annoying beating around the bush!!! O yeah, being a homer counts as annoying also; you can certainly root for the hometown team, but please be rational about it!
So I'm man enough to eat crow on my 1-4 BCS picks, but one question I have is what was Bo Pelini doing on coaching LSU when he was named Nebraska head coach weeks ago??? Seems to me his focus should have turned to Nebraska on day one. Just my opinion though.

West Virginia looked pretty good, too. (insert winking icon here)

Yeah, yeah. You're more than entitled to that one.
I really wish they could play bowl games closer to the end of the regular season so we could get a true picture of who the better teams are...I guess that would equate to possibly having a playoff system. The long layoff affects everyone differently. I guess some coaches are better at preparing their teams than others. And some teams are just plain better.

Seems like the month of December would be ideal for a playoff say starting with the top 16 teams and be done around the first week in January. There would be 15 total games to crown a champion over 4 weekends. Have them at neutral sites and give them Bowl names. I guess the 2 teams in the championship would then play four bowl games. It would still be a better system than what we currently have.
I heard on espn yesterday, the NCAA is going to look at an 8 team format....Florida's and Georgia's Presidents contacted the Ncaa and requested it be looked at....could be a great time for college football when the BCS contract expires
