I think you want to know why he was unimpressed with Callahan.... This I will admit is not coming from Riley Reiff but is coming from people close to the situation.... When Riley went down to the red-white game nebraska treated him like he was no big deal he talked to red-shirt freshman and other recruits and they all said that callahan was garbage and that many of the red-shirts (freshman that red-shirted last year) where thinking about transferring.... The thing that makes me believe some of this is Riley is a BIG Nebraska fan and before he was ever recruited for football he always told everyone his goal in life was to play for nebraska and that if he had to walk on there he would do so. So for him even to soft verbal to Iowa makes me think that something wasn't right in the Nebraska camp... Its not like there is much going for any of the local camps (Nebraska, Iowa, ISU, Minnesota) Wyoming is having a pretty good year but thats about it for D-IA programs.

The other point I forgot to mention from the radio discussions the other night about Riley was that he evidently spent most of this past summer in Lincoln working for his dad's roofing business. Supposedly, they replaced a roof on one of the buildings on campus. If true (I have no idea if it is), that probably influenced him some.

The recruiting guy mentioned the other schools in the running, but nothing about SDSU.

Well obviously Callahan is the FB coach Super. I think you got your posts confused. JoeB was talking about Riley R. and I assume you thought he was still talking about Louie.

I did think he was talking about Louie! My bad. I was confused as to what bearing the football coach had on his playing basketball there!

Supposedly, they replaced a roof on one of the buildings on campus. If true (I have no idea if it is), that probably influenced him some.

The recruiting guy mentioned the other schools in the running, but nothing about SDSU.

Right now I am hearing things all over and everything seems to be contradicting..... The argus has a quote from Riley saying he is still a verbal he just plans on visiting other colleges this fall and make his decision then.
Espn has a quote saying that he was pressured into a decision from text from Iowa personal (which I think is b.s. that collage personal txt kids) and that he only opened it up to Nebraska
I talked to him and he said that its probally between Nebraska and Iowa but SDSU ISU and Minnesota are still a possibilty
Then I talked to some people from Parkston today and they said that Riley is proballly going to go to Nebraska..

If this isn't all contradicting I don't know what is.... Like I said earlier I would expect him to go to Iowa or Nebraska but he really does like SDSU and if anybody on here knows Riley tell him that he should go there. (I do)

Your heart is in the right place Joe, but I would suggest anyone on this board avoiding the subject completely with Mr. Reiff and leaving his recruitment up to the coaches and AD.

But Joe, if you didn't hear it from Riley let's not read about it on here. I would have thought you'd have learned not to listen to what the hometown boys are saying after being so sure that Colton was going to Nebraska. We're very interested in first hand knowledge, nothing else.

Even more reason for me to hate the Huskers , although I do wish Riley the best of luck with his decision!

Tough news for me now too of my favorite high school athletes (louie and riley) have committed to colleges I absolutely hate.... I wish Riley the best but again I think that the fact that he deverbelled(sp) from Iowa shows that something has to change its unfair that some colleges recruit so hard to pressure kids into commitments and then its unfair that in football kids can deverbel for no apparent reason and commit to another school.... Basketball you can't do this so I think some unity between the two sports needs to be found. I know that is kinda off topic but I think it actually is part of the topic.

I don't think this is a huge loss for SDSU though it would of been nice to get a DE but we got people there that support our system well.

Football recruits can "deverbal" and so can basketball recruits. There isn't a rule in either sport that says you can or can't change you verbal committment. That is why it is called a verbal committment. Once again, get your facts straight.

Ya but you can sign early in basketball and unless a reason you hardly ever see a deverbal in basketball..... There is also soft and hard verbals in football and just a verbal in basketball..
