You would think that a UMKC-UNO rivalry would be something that wouldn't be that hard to get going. Heck, rent a couple of buses and haul a hundred UNO students to UMKC games and vice versa, just to liven things up a bit. UMKC-Chicago State just doesn't quite have the same . . . convenience factor.
My exact thoughts. If their admin is that stupid I have no faith in them turning around their athletic programs.

I think I heard a similar quote from Tom Douple in an interview during the Summit League Tournament.

There has been turnover in the coaching.. and the athletic director who guided them to the WAC. They picked up a fellow from Pitino's staff to coach the basketball team. He may made progress with the players. The Jackrabbits struggled to get by them early in the season.

What shocks me is that the athletic administration at UMKC, who's job is college athletics, couldn't seem to figure this out yet any average fan or media member knew this was a terrible idea. I hope the athletic director's hand was forced by an outside entity (i.e. university president), otherwise the AD and some other higher-ups need to lose their jobs. When choosing a direction, if they can't see the brick wall along a path, how can you expect them to see the glass wall along another?

Gene Taylor has uttered a similar quote as well during a MBB halftime interview.

Hearing some rumors of NMSU joining the Sun Belt for all-sports now. Would be a big blow to the WAC.

Unconfirmed reports from the good ship WAC of a serious leak under the water line in the engine room . . .

She's "unsinkable" were the welcomed words that were hurried throughout the ship after the inexplicable grinding, grating noises that bellowed from the deep bowels of the Titanic as the mighty ship scraped along the iceberg.

Hope the SS WAC fares better.

I would be happy to have them back, especially if they had a solid plan for getting back to their good years.
Reading this comment about not everyone will win 20-games somehow made me think of a recent conversation with my brother-in-law. We were talking about the increased ranking of the league in RPI, and what it would take to continue to raise that level. Obviously it starts with scheduling - all teams in the league need to continue to schedule higher RPI teams in the non-conference but the lower ranking teams must do so as well. This was his point - the lower level teams should schedule tough out of conference games if possible. It probably won't affect their win/loss record that much, because if you stink and lose to crappy DI teams, you could just as well try to schedule and lose to higher RPI teams and help the league.

Summit League members and fans need to understand that continuing to work higher in the conference RPI, might actually produce teams that have worse out of conference records, but ultimately help the standing of the league in general.
