Bob Knight was at Cubby's yesterday.

U$C had nothing to lose with the Enfield hire. Their basketball program is already in the toilet, second in the City to UCLA, Clippers, Lakers, Dodgers.......I could go on.

Can only go up from where they stand now.

Sounds as if Rutgers could be open soon, apparently his tactics don't translate well when seen on national TV. I'm not defending it, but I think some would be very surprised what some coaches get away with.

Their AD should be fired as well, and to think the coach only had a 3game suspension and 50k fine. Seth Greenburg says it not much of the verbal abuse but the putting hands on the players and throwing balls at their heads that caught his attention. No way should a coach be able to get away with putting his hands on players or chucking balls at the players. It's almost like they tried to sweep it under the rug until the fired assistant coach presented them with the video and they released they had to act on something.

Here is a small sample size of the evidence against the coach. Just remember they had 2+ years of this happening and hours and hours of video of the coach berating players, putting his hands on players, shouting homosexual slurs at players, and throwing balls at players

Yeah, when I first heard about it, I just figured it was a 1-2 time incident and it was blown out and taken out of context. That is not the case. I'll give the A.D. credit for going on camera and not hiding behind a statement but he should have been fired for these incidents.

Yikes. I bet this guy would be a treat to play pick up ball with.

I wonder if any criminal charges will come from this... seems like an enterprising prosecutor could make a name for themselves, and there's lots of video evidence.

I've expressed my feelings on this before, but coaches get away with behavior nobody in almost any other profession would.

New Mexico has made the interim H.C. the Head Coach Craig "Noodles" Neal. He has been Alford's right side guy for quite a while. I've heard he is the only guy slicker then Alford.

A few new hot names for the Gophers job.

Scott Drew- fmr. Valpo Coach, current Baylor coach
pro's midwest ties, power 6 conference experience, solid resume, good recruiter, etc.
con's known as someone who "bends" the rules, has a "slick" attitude, some feel he will turn away boosters, etc.

His brother Bryce Drew current Valpo coach and famous Summit League/Mid-Co player
pro's midwest, very well respected, solid coach
con's hasn't recruited big time, not a ton of experience.

                      Ton Bennett- Virginia

Hearing that boosters really want Flip Saunders and are still pushing him hard.

He does bring the type of personality UCLA needed though and he will be able to utilize UCLA way more then Howland ever did

Story is Flip Saunders has turned down the Gophers and they have since contacted Andy Enfield (FGSU), though he is looked at as a leading candidate. Not really sure what the deal is with Flip (if true), but I've heard he could very well be the next Cleveland Cavs coach (he is from Ohio). Also possible he will have role with the Timberwolves.

Sounds as if it may not have been a true offer to Flip as well, something where they offered him, but the deal and situation (hiring his staff, etc.) was something he wouldn't accept.
I'm still reeling at the idea that UCLA, John Wooden's school, would hire a guy like Alford. If you're bored, google Alford and Pierre Pierce to see what kind of guy Steve Alford is (hint: Involves a student athlete who raped a young woman and a coach to maneuvered to silence the victim to protect his basketball program). As a Chicago columnist wrote recently: UCLA Hired a Scumbag http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2013/03/...red-a-scumbag/.

Now if they would fire their AD, Rutgers would be 100 percent correct in their recent moves. It's almost like he tried to sweep it under the rug then give minimal punishment when realizing he had to act and waiting until the public backlash to do what should have been done this last summer.

The Mike Rice situation irritates me, I'm at the feeling if you stand by this guy when you find out about it, you should be forced to stand by him once it becomes public. If its ok when no one else knows about it, it should be ok when everyone knows about it.

Old Dominion hired a head coach Jeff Jones from America

New Minnesota name- Rich Petino (Rick's son)

Took me .13 seconds to find those. I wonder if UCLA's AD knows how to Google somebody.
Steve Alford is looking out for one person and one person's interest at all times. I'm not saying that a person can't change as they mature and gain experience. No doubt he learned from the fiasco he created at Iowa. I think UCLA is taking a big risk here. They didn't get choice #1 or #2 and they were uncomfortable waiting like Minnesota has. Alford may turn out to be a great choice but there are certainly many unanswered questions.
