You are not being delusional, just ignoring facts. Some over at your board are like your self and looking for mutual respect, but others besides Coyote Fan will jump on you for saying very little. I never had the pleasure of meeting Boyce Engstrom, but suspect he is very thorough guy who wants the best for his institution. His bold step of firing the AD and Coach are indicitive of his desires.

I use the term Bunnies once in a while. I didnt know it was a bad thing

      1) How did this thread turn into a discussion of the USD board?
      2) "Bunnies" is, it seems to me, a fairly standard example of creating a diminutive version of a sports team's nickname--in the vein of "Twinkies" or "Cubbies" or the like. Can be used derisively or affectionately, depending on the speaker/writer.

Yeah I know I responed to JackJD post, and that got us down the USD trail. Bunnies was the approved name for the Freshman teams when the 3 year eligibilty rule was in affect. Many of us were not around then. If 4 years had been in effect, Don Jacobsen would no doubt be highher in the 1000 pts range.

I guess the reason it bothers me is that a bunny is a small immature Jackrabbit, and for the USD fans to call us bunnies seem unappropriate considering we lead in enrollment and going forward to D1. I see as a put down, though a mild one.

I am about to google Royce Engstrom and learn more about this former USD adminstrator. Filbert is right on with his post.

I have always considered the word "Bunnies" (yes, I believe it should be capitalized) in the context of SDSU Jackrabbits to be a term of endearment.

Has some information on how contracts work in this article. I would guess it's similar to how the contracts work at SDSU. Might shed some light on the conversation regarding Nagy's contract.

Forgotten completely about this thread, but my librarianishness is kicking in. Not to re-hijack but young jackrabbits are leverets, not bunnies. And yes, Nidaros, I do remember three year eligibility and the Bunnies. Rabbits are bunnies, young hares are leverets. Now, back to Montana, my meds are kicking in.

Jez, I hardly recall making those posts period. Leverets, a new word for the day. At any rate Montana is in trouble, I believe this is what its all about. There is a bunch of stuff that goes on that boosters are not suppose to do but do and do generously. I just hope some day I don't open the Argus whether on line or print and read about a scandal uncovered at SDSU. I suspect this negative story would most likely break right here on the message board.(The power of rumor).

I'm entertained by the argument from Griz fans that the NCAA is unfairly targeting non-BCS schools. Even if that is true (I don't believe it is) it is not an argument in defense of the rules infractions uncovered. "Sure, we cheated but we think others are cheating too so leave us alone". Nice Griz fans, nice.
