    Re: BCS chaos

I agree with you. Additionally I hate ESPN and their constant campaigning for an SEC rematch. I find it ridiculous how they treat a rematch as a foregone conclusion when they have AP voters as employees. Man I hate ESPN.

      Re: BCS chaos

Spent last week in the heart of SEC country. Even the talking heads on CSS down there agree no one wants to see an LSU-Alabama rematch. That said the promoters on ESPN will likely prevail, set-up the rematch, and then crow over the SEC winning 6 BCS Championsips in a row.

I for one will be not watching the BCS championship game if it is an LSU-Alabama match up. Tired of hearing all the SEC hype. This would make it worse. I will only watch whatever bowl game the Huskers go to.

I don't see how you can play in the championship game if you don't even play and or win your confrence title/game. The first lsu bama game was probably the most boring game of the year. I won't watch a rematch. I am guessing if they want ratings most of the country would perfer something then an all s ec final. I would give a 1 loss team who won its confrence title a chance.

It was 2001 when Nebraska got smoked at Colorado 62-36 and didnt win the North so they didnt win the Big 12 but played in the BCS Championship game. It shouldnt have happened then and shouldnt happen this year. You dont win your conference you shouldnt play in the big game

While i don't disagree, the current system calls for the two best teams to play each other. I think they accomplished that with Bama and LSU.

It's gonna be really messy if Bama would happen to win.

Yea it will. Maybe they need to play a 3rd game to decide it.

                      Re: BCS chaos

Imagine that. The BCS gets it wrong again. Alabama doesn't deserve the national championship shot as they blew it against LSU earlier in the year and didn't even have to play the SEC championship game to get there. On top of that, OSU clearly had a better body of work in the overall season. Imagine if 'Bama wins the game. No clear national champion this year then. Hate this BS on so many levels. Unless Nebraska is playing in one, I refuse to watch another BCS game until there is a playoff system in place. Computers should not be helping decide a national championship. Plus I place blame ESPN on as hyping this rematch to nauseating levels and basically pimping the SEC for the last several years.

                        Re: BCS chaos

I know that a playoff is not in the future with the BCS. How-ever, is it unrealistic to think they couldn't do a "plus one" or even "plus three" to compromise with something of a type of playoff?

Alabama will have had a 45 day layoff between their last regular season game (remember - they didn't play in a conference championship?) and the BCS title game. (The Minnesota Vikings could lose 6 NFL games in that time span. Hypothetically speaking - I know their season will be over before the BCS title game)

Why on God's green earth, couldn't we play 2 bowl games in the middle of December and have the winners play a title tilt at the same time they are now playing? Who is a loser in that type of situation? Thoughts? Does that make too much sense?

One concern is the commitment for the players/student athletes. Another game or two means that many more practices, film sessions, that much more time and physical demand. I realize it would only be for a small portion of all the players but it is a concern none the less.

I believe this is why the NCAA does not sanction additional games or playoff for any of their other divisions or sports.

We in a similar way everyone who had a chance ahead of them lost so they moved up by default. I am a cornhuskers fan but I totally agree.

Yes, but isn't Alabama practicing, studying film for their entire 45 day layoff anyway?

My point is that some teams are done on or before Thanksgiving (or right after, now that I think about it). They don't play their bowl games until after Christmas (which by my simple math is at least 30 days) they are getting several weeks of practice and film time anyway. (Which is why so many programs long to become "bowl eligible" for the extra time to work)

Or is my understanding flawed? I really don't know - just wondering?!!
