Not that the Summit is looking, but this could be the addition in the east to make the IN/MI/IL schools happier.

Non-football school. Would enjoy Eastern IL and UND added, but would need to be addition to the MVFC also.

I doubt very much they will be allowed into the Horizon, a top ten league based on RPI. No way the Horizon offers a transitioning D2 school. The OVC and Summit are their only options.

I think if the Summit could find another team in the region they would offer, because with the resent western expansion the League would like to help out the Eastern block with adding two teams.

I haven't looked lately to see if Chicago State has gotten their act together. They'd be perfect, if you could trust them to be a competent program (which was why they were booted from the Mid-Con in the first place, although they would tell you that they were angling for the Horizon . . . "as if!")

Metros in the approximate Summit footprint not currently hosting a Summit school (in 2010 metro population order, over 250,000) include:
            Chicago
            Minneapolis/St. Paul
            St. Louis
            Cleveland
            Cincinatti
            Columbus
            Milwaukee
            Louisville
            Oklahoma City
            Dayton
            Grand Rapids
            Akron
            Toledo
            Little Rock
            Wichita
            Madison, WI
            Des Moines
            Lansing-E. Lansing
            Flint
            Lexington-Fayette
            Canton-Massilon
Davenport-Moline-Rock Island (arguably served by W. Illinois)
            Springfield, MO
            Peoria, IL
            Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers, AR
            Evansville
            Ann Arbor
            Rockford
            South Bend-Mishawaka
            Kalamazoo-Portage
            Green Bay
            Duluth
            Fort Smith, AR
            Lincoln, NE

("Footprint" being the current Summit states - Utah + Minnesota, Iowa, Wisconsin, Ohio, Kentucky, Kansas, and Arkansas

Interesting that the two school that talk to in the story are both Summit League schools

It's good to see they could get "Wayne" in there for some advice and someone from "Souther".

Is Eastern unhappy in the OVC?

I don't think so, but every once in a while it crops up because people seem to think that they would want to be in the same league as WIU, or some such thing. If I were EIU I think I'd be fairly content in the Ohio Valley Conference, but then who knows? If I were Mizzou I'd want to stay in the Big 12 rather than go to the SEC meat grinder.

Wouldn't Mizzou be a power in SEC BB?

A factor, maybe. Not a power. Not in a league that's already got Kentucky and Florida.

I'd completely forgotten about Kentucky in the SEC. That after three trips to TN this fall. In the area I travel to there can be only one of three answers to the question, "Who ya for?" Can I be forgiven due to Alabama/Auburn/TN overload?
