Your right, Duke has it tought because if you watch, refs hold Duke to a higher standard and they have to play above lesser teams most nights who try to ugly up the game to get the officials in it. How many scandals besides The fab five in college and a few missed calls have the NCAA officals had? Now how about the NBA? the NBA officials I think are the worst in all of sports, professional or college level.

Why don't people like Bobby Knight? he is a jerk to some but never did anything wrong as a coach when it came to the NCAA, but but still dislike him even though he is the all times win leader. Calhoun is respected by most, just most don't like him, I think there is a difference.

Of course the NBA is better, its most of the best players in the world, and a lot, if not most came through college. Comparing college to NBA is apples to oranges. If you were saying NBA to the old CBA, yes the NBA is much better. College is young student athletes who have a lot to do besides play basketball or football. Most are good students, the NBA there job is to play basketball, they are physically bigger older and have more time to develop playing basketball, I don't think some, not saying on here, but some basketball fans don't appreciate the commitment college athletes have to make.

Never more serious. Trying watching a game sometime, Duke does not get calls like people thing, more often, they don't get calls because they are Duke and refs are holding them to a higher standard. Try watching UNC or Kansas and other teams that get away with the calls. I know haters gotta hate but sometimes they need to take off the Duke hating glasses to see the truth.

I don't hate you goon but I think you've done a good job of explaining why I hate Duke and the attitude that comes with being a Duke fan. It takes a certain personality to be a Duke fan and that personality isn't the kind I'm most in tune with. That said, I have some very good friends that are Duke fans and I've learned to tolerate them.....most of the time.

I wouldn't expect anything less coming from a UNC fan.

I have ZERO dog in this Duke/UNC/Kansas/(whatever other "big time" college that SD high school kids for years have immortalized, teams that 95% of them have never even stepped foot on their campus) fight, but you're drunk if you don't think everyone of these programs get plenty of calls...ESPECIALLY against the mid-major, including your beloved, DUKE.

It's called getting "mid-major'd" by the refs. I've never heard a Kansas or Duke fan say..."we got BCS'd" by the refs. And if you don't think that it happens...you're watching more Duke(BCS) sports than SDSU(mid-major)...ala(SDSU Women's Baylor/Nebraska FB games just to name a couple) Give me a freaking break.
I promise if you have an honest, off the record conversation with AJ or Nagy, or probably any other mid-major coach...it's just one more hurdle that a Mid-Major has to jump over to get the "w".

I agree, in that situation the mid major does not get a fair shake, however watch Duke vs anyone in the ACC, and most feel duke gets calls, if you watch you can see even more where duke didn't get the call that other teams often get against them.

The overall officaiting is better the higher confrences though, the summit refs have a lot to be desired.

You are right, though, about one game not making CBB good or bad. I just don't watch it until the tournament comes around, other than SDSU, of course. And the tournament is generally awesome. The first weekend is amazing, and then it slowly get's worse. In my opinion.

I just like the NBA better because the players are more talented. I know most people disagree, though.
I would ask when is a championship game have the best teams in it? It is a rarity in sports that plays a one game elimination style playoff (NFL football and the NCAA tournament). Butler and UConn were the best college basketball had to offer at this time of the year. They proved that by getting to the finals.

Was it a fun game to watch? Not really. But I loved the defense and hustle. People complained all day about the low scoring. Why don't people complain about a 1-0 baseball game (which I love watching).

I am not against the NBA, I actually like it. But it doesn't mean it's a better game. As a fan attending games, the atmosphere is 100 times better at a college game than a pro game.

Are those similar to Duke hating glasses most others look through? Well except for they see everything backwards with those. I think its sad people will hate duke for no reason then just to hate them.

This might be...but to say the Ref's are screwing them compared to the other pre-madonna/slimey/1-2 and done programs in the NCAA is denial on your part as a Duke fan, IMO.
I'd say the same think to MD as a UNC fan if he were making these ridiculous claims in regards to refereeing.

Still just gets me that a fan of one of these programs(Duke in this case) really believes, with all the built-in advantages they have, that they are getting hosed by the refs.

                            1-0 baseball games suck.

Those weren't the two best teams in basketball.

The only point I'll give you is the atmosphere is better in college.

Those may not have been the best teams in college basketball this year. But when has the "best" team ever won a championship in a year, ESPECIALLY in college sports?? The UCONN women of the past two years are probably the closest in my era of watching college sports.

How far back do you have to go to find a winner that that UCONN team would have beat?

                                1986?

They were NINTH(!) in their conference.

Don't hate on this, but the BCS does a better job of putting a good championship game than the NCAA tournament does. Would I rather have the BCS? Hell no. But it does a better job of putting two of the best teams in the championship.
