I'm a sucker for talent.
He's gotta end up at an FCS school or a DII school, no FBS school will touch him.

Re: Wegher released from Iowa scholarship
I wonder if he either thought they would apply and try to get the 1 year wait period waved or if he just looked at the roster and saw no playing time after sitting a year. Everyone that looked at the situation didn't think OU was a good fit.

Re: Wegher released from Iowa scholarship
The Sioux City Journal newspaper adds to the report that Weagher was academically ineligible. LINK (I caught this link on the 'Yote's board.)
EDIT: JOE BOO MAKES A GOOD POINT THREE POSTS BELOW: THE NEWSPAPER SAID "TRANSFER INELIGIBLE" WHICH SOUNDS LIKE IT WAS NOT A QUESTION OF ACADEMIC INELIGIBILITY.Last edited by JackJD; 03-24-2011, 12:28 PM.

Re: Wegher released from Iowa scholarship
The reason I ask is because I thought right away when I saw him transfer to another FBS school was that they would try to get a waiver for the 1 year wait period because he didn't play a down this year and was not part of the team.

Re: Wegher released from Iowa scholarship
Joe Boo is correct: the news report in the Sioux City journal referred to "transfer ineligible". I don't know exactly what that may mean but it appears it may not have anything to do with academic eligibility.
I'm in the camp with others who have posted: I like talent. Wegher had an excellent freshman year at Iowa. If he ended up wearing Blue and Yellow like his father, that'd be fine in my book.

If he can figure things out in the classroom and off the field. he would be a great addition. otherwise he would just be a train wreck."The most rewarding things you do in life, are often the ones that look like they cannot be done.” Arnold Palmer
