What I find interesting is the condition of the streets is brought up with the EC and those who oppose the EC find this to be more of a Priority. Maybe it is.
Which further shows the warped reality, since she lives in an APARTMENT COMPLEX, and they would be worried about property taxes. I understand old people are cranky and against change, it's part of the joys of growing old you get all your food blended for you,you get to give werhter's originals at Halloween, and steal batteries at wal-mart. I just hope I don't turn it to that where I can't see that the generations behind me still need to work towards a better future after my time is done.

A tax is a tax. So they see it. Some one close to them such as a son or daughter does own property and they could lose their property so vote NO. You can say they are looking out for the younger generation in that sense. I never stole any batteries from any store. Some might be seeing this vote no as a tax relief since it would expire without a project to spend it on.

All of the above, combined with the fact that a higher percentage of older generations you know, actually vote, leads me to further believe my prediction of a 62% no victory.

Just went to my polling place in central Sioux Falls when I took lunch. I asked how turnout has been. One of the ladies said "steady." There were three voters in the building at the time. Hopefully people vote after work or "steady" will be a low voter turnout.

When I went this morning to cancle catrabbits vote with mine, I was 128 to vote at my place and it was about 11 am. its a small area but I think a lot of older people close to central SF. I feel it could go either way.

So on the ballot it says:

"There will be no new taxes, no increase in property taxes, and no increase in sales tax rates authorized by the current City Council to pay for the Project."

If you can't read and understand that, then you shouldn't vote old, young or otherwise. If you are against it for other reasons, fine. But know what you are voting for or against.

              Ballot also says:

"The Council has also adopted a resolution stating that it will not proceed with the Project if the proposal is not approved by a majority of those voting in this election."

I'm not commenting on that quote.

I was #230-ish at about 12:30. A little lower than I would have guessed. It takes longer to walk into the building than it does to mark the sheet people!

35% turnout Yes: 42% No: 58% I would have predicted a closer vote a month ago. Just have a feeling.

I guess what about 10 years from now when this thing took on more water and cant pay off like its suppose to. The city council in 10 years, would they have the power to raise taxes to cover if their projections are short? I would guess if things don't work out someone will have to pay the difference. So could future city councils set to raise taxes to make up the difference if the "current" city council can not.

I was just stating what the ballot said for clarification. Don't jump my sh*t. I've never even stated on here how I was going to vote.

There are currently about 156k people in SF, and this is allegedly a $130M project. That's not a major expenditure per person per year over the course of the bond.

In fact, I would argue that one of the reasons why this proposal courts failure is because it doesn't go far enough. Had the city come up with a larger plan that involved demoing out the interior of the Arena to create a significantly larger convention center flat-floor, while building a new facility downtown, for maybe an extra $30M or so, they might have gotten more support.

Dont get your panties in a knot, I am asking because I don't know. I know thats what it says but since you mentioned it I thought maybe you knew 100% what it meant.

I agree. The arena should be renovated for the convention center and anything that used the Arena goes to the new EC. That was never discussed or in the plans so I cant support it assuming it will change.

I've always thought that the city was thinking too small on this project. Especially given population projections for the Sioux Falls Metro area. I also think this might pass in a squeeker.
