Yes. Will their endorsement help or hinder Sioux Falls citizens to "git'er done"? Sioux Falls definitely needs this to compete for events. (says a non-resident for 30 years).

Not with a 100% financing plan and poor location they don't.

I don't know if this helps much, but I do believe that the only way an SDSU or USD would ever play a big time school would be in Sioux Falls with a new arena.

I support this thing, but a non-partisan view of the electorate is this. South Dakotan's are very conservative and hate to spend large sums of money for something that "only benefits a few". They also have that belief on how is it going to help me? I swear the only thing people (most of them) in this state care about is how it will help them personally, if it will then they are for it, if it will help the neighbor but not them they are against it. And that is for all things not just this thing. I see it with people complaining about ditches and roads, or a new business being built in a town or something like that.

I think 2 things hurt the chances, 1 is the success and non-success of the current arena. They have the summit league tournament, they have minor league sports, they do have some concerts, and do still have most of the state hs tournaments. But at the same time it sits empty for most of the year. So people say hey, it works now why change anything. I remember I think it was a Zimmer blog or maybe Terry's where they were kinda rooting against SF getting the initial summit league tourney because it would show an example where they lost out on something because of a really old and ugly arena.

The other is many South Dakotan's do not understand what they are missing. I had a conversation with a friend who has been to big time college basketball games, been to vegas and traveled and said there are things outside of the region that South Dakotans do not understand are out there. South Dakotans are fine with the bar band on a friday night, they are fine with class A hs basketball on a tuesday night. I had someone tell me that they thought sd high school basketball had more talent then the NBA D-league. Many South Dakotans do not understand what is out there, and because of that I think they don't see the full benefits of an arena. Since Sioux Falls has never really had it with the current arena they haven't lost it either. The point I'd argue is they probably will in 1 form or another sooner or later if they do not get a new EC. If ORU had not left the conference, my money was on them to get the bid to host the tournament when it comes up next time.
