The picture of the Grey guy in front of the Pavilion says it all. A resounding no vote will set these high and mighty advocates of EC in their place.

Personally a new EC would be an asset and would create jobs much like what the WPA did in the 1930's. A penny cent tax would work as it seems like something that does not stop others from buying beer and all those necessary goodies. And Government does not creat jobs. Oh Yeah!!!!

That is a plan I can get behind.

Problem is, we lose Vernon Brown from the council in 2012. He has been a voice of reason on this issue.

Even if off the council he still I am sure can voice his opinion and help drive the issue. I will be very disapointed if this passes.

Is Veron term limited or will he is not interested in running again for re-election?

He's term limited out, if I remember correctly.

Term limits, the surest way to dumb down elected offices.

Some interesting reading from the Star Tribune last week

                        http://www.startribune.com/local/min...131924448.html

Convention center there is cutting jobs and being heavily subsidised.

Term limits help keep people from becoming career politicians, I guess I thought a politician it was to be more of a service to others and your community, which term limits should help people focus more on and not their own careers in politics.

A career in service to others and your community is not automatically a bad thing. An educatated voter has the responsibility to keep it in check and shouldn't abdicate that to a term limit law. Otherwise we might as well go to the purer democracy that the Greeks practiced and elect representatives by lottery.

                              I agree with PraireHaas.
A career in politics is not a bad thing when you put all the interests that you represent before you and do not cater to big money interests who finance your campaign. If you are doing a good job, you usually are re-elected and if you stop doing a good job, an informed group of voters can vote you out. I risk getting political, but certain elected officals are bought and paid for and that is what is destroying America currently. Term limits will not stop the flow of money, the money interests will just find a new yes man when their guy has been term limited and we get the same results.

I think Vernon Brown is his own man pretty much and this is where term limits does not work. It overrides the interests of those who would put him back on the council at the ballot box.
