i just about fell off the couch laughing after that one! i will get to work and see what i can do

asking for a jake inspired character and sdsu ice cream is redundant!! is there any world or any story where a jake795 exists WITHOUT sdsu ice cream?? gotta believe that is a very resounding NOOOO

so i am not a beer drinker and my first inclination is absolutely not, BUT can you come up with some new flavor which could be used in a budweiser float? i have what seems like a decent idea but i am going to leave this to your expertise

How about some hops-derived concoction (Happy Hoppy)?

Could make a "Severed Paw" mixer for the 'Yote game, comprised of a White Claw & strawberry ice cream for "fairer" Jacks fans

Is anyone hearing anything else on the University’s policy plan on this or if it will be implemented this fall? I believe USD just formalized their plans to operate it this fall season in the dome. You would think we will have something finalized soon, but maybe there’s no need to announce it until closer to the season?

The plan is pretty well in place based on the BOR policy, not much the university can change. I’m confident that the AD and President are in agreement on getting this done. Sodexo negotiations may be interesting, but I’m guessing that’s all that is in the way. At one point I heard that SDSU spends 8k per game in security related cost. UPD here has already said that they are fully prepared to have sufficient security (including some overkill the first few games with alcohol). Quality beer can still be requested if you pay for the shiny box suite up top. There is also required to be alcohol free areas for those that want to stay away from it.

This policy is not limited to football exclusively. First Bank and Trust Arena should have beer too and make sure you remind the best AD in the country, Justin Sell, that you want beer with basketball too.

Per email received today, also available online:

Since receiving approval from the South Dakota Board of Regents to expand the sale of alcoholic beverages at campus athletic events in June, University and athletic officials, along with representatives from campus hospitality provider Sodexo, met several times to finalize a series of policies that will be in effect starting with the Jackrabbits' home football opener on Sept. 10 at Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium.

In order to purchase alcohol, all fans — regardless of age — must present a valid ID at designated stations in tailgating areas or stadium concourses to receive a wristband and stamp for that day's game. Board policy requires each fan to have his or her ID on them at all times as age verification will take place at points of sale and beyond.

Stadium gates open 90 minutes prior to kickoff, with alcohol sales — consisting of beer and seltzer only — starting one hour prior to kickoff and ending at the conclusion of the third quarter as per BOR policy. Two sections within Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium have been designated as alcohol-free zones: Section 207 in the west grandstand and Section 123 on the east side.

All transactions at alcohol kiosks in the stadium concourses will be processed by credit card only. For SDSU students, payment via campus meal plans will not be accepted for alcohol sales. There will be no SDSU-related alcohol sales in tailgating areas; fans may continue to bring beverages of their choice — with the exception of hard liquor — as prescribed by existing tailgating policies.

Alcohol sales for events at Frost Arena are scheduled to begin later in the fall.

            TAILGATING AND TICKETS
Due to the demand of football tailgating, SDSU Athletics has added an option for fans to reserve tailgate spaces in the Pink Lot, which is located north and west of Dana J. Dykhouse Stadium, in advance of gameday. Fans can purchase and reserve four (4) parking spaces in the hard-surface lot for $650 for the entire season. All vehicles, structures, etc., must be cleared by 5 p.m. on the Sunday following each home game.

To inquire about single-game availability, contact the Jackrabbit Ticket Office at (605) 688-5422.

The email also includes links to tailgating policies, online ticketing FAQs, parking maps, and inbound & outbound traffic patterns prior to and after games

Just looked at the Egress Map. Wondering how funneling all traffic from the Tailgate Lots and the Jackrabbit Club lots West of the stadium south to North Campus Drive at the end of the game is an improvement. Multiple lots emptying onto N. Campus Drive and the intersection to Medary Ave will be a nightmare. Going North to the highway 14 bypass (as we did in the past) seems a better alternative and a more direct route to 29. Place a SDSU PD employee at the intersection with Stadium Road forbidding a left turn (as the sign stated) would greatly improve traffic flow.

Exiting onto the 14 bypass from roads that do not have stop lights was dangerous and backed up the process as some people tried to turn left. Turning right was also a challenge as the line of cars coming was also long. There were countless complaints from this. The idea is to keep traffic moving and to only be able to access the bypass from an intersection with a stop light that will be controlled manually to allow more traffic to flow onto the bypass at one time. SD DOT and SDHP supported this. Something had to change as many people were irate on egress.

Fernson will be offering "Ears Up" beer for Hobo Day.

While I won't drink it, I'd definitely like to have one of the cans

I look forward to trying it. Their Lions Paw Lager is probably my favorite beer.

5% alcohol content, what's not to like about it. Like the name, if the beers fairly good, will support the brand, and enjoy doing so. Ears up America !!!

The news story about Ears Up stated the beer would be available Tuesday (October 25) in the Brookings market and then in the Stadium for the game. Did anyone give it a try yet? I wonder how many cans they’ll sell at the game. I plan on buying at least one for collecting purposes — it’ll be the first beer can to adorn my office shelves.

It's available at Fernson's downtown location in Sioux Falls. Bought can to collect myself, but I didn't drink it

Tuesday afternoon found all Ears Up was sold out in liquor store and several other outlets. I understand the cans were sold in 4 packs.

Correct; Fernson's on Phillips had about 8 packs in cooler, after a couple and I each bought two cases
