University centers in Sioux Falls and Pierre see downturns in enrollments

PIERRE — The state university centers at Sioux Falls and Pierre saw enrollments drop significantly for the recent fall and spring semesters in comparison to the previous year, according to their latest annual reports.
Meanwhile, the year-old center at Rapid City experienced a 12 percent increase in credit hours taken by students for the two main semesters. Enrollment also was up last summer by 2-plus percent.

My impression is that Sioux Falls, lacking a major university of its own, is drawing satellite campuses of both profit- and non-profit universities like honey badgers to an exceptionally large and succulent bee-hive.

I think you're right, Filbert. The list of post-secondary schools competing for a slice of the SF market is long and growing: University Center, Southeast Tech, Augie, USF, Colorado Tech, Globe, National American, Mount Marty, Kilian, Bellevue and others. Add the enrollments up and you might get close to SDSU's total.
