Re: Students agree to fees to support faculty salaries

First, I want t be clear that I do support increasing wages in higher education. Perhaps this is just nit picking but saying the students will be paying more for toward increased faculty salaries is not entirely accurate. I'm a parent of a student at State and he will not be paying for this increase. As is the same in many cases, as a parent I will be paying the increase. Essentially the students have agreed to an increase in fees to their parents.

Now for the rant. This would not be happening if our politicians had the intestinal fortitude to properly support education. If they had we wouldn't see students voting to increase fees or a state initiative to increase taxes for education (which may well pass also). The entire state benefits from education at all levels, the entire state should be supporting the system. So please Pierre get with it. The economy is not an excuse when both Ag and manufacturing are showing record or near record profits and employment. And this is not just about money. It is time to change the antiquated educated delivery system. Keeping schools going for political purposes equals waste of taxpayer dollars.

      End of rant.

      Thank you for the indulgence.

To be fair many will have student loans that they will pay back which some parents won't pay back for them. But I do understand your point.
