The South Dakota State University Alumni Association is starting a contest Monday to come up with a name for the school’s “Jackrabbit” mascot.
Alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends wishing to take part in the “Nameless No More” contest may submit potential names from Monday through Oct. 17.

BROOKINGS, S.D. - For the past 104 years, the beloved South Dakota State Jackrabbit mascot has been without a name. The SDSU Alumni Association would like to change that.
Starting Monday, the "Nameless No More" contest will begin, giving alumni, students, faculty, staff and friends of SDSU the opportunity to name a State icon that is frequently seen cheering at Jackrabbit athletic events and representing SDSU at numerous functions throughout campus and the state.
"This is an opportunity to officially put a name with something that is an important part of the overall collegiate experience at South Dakota State," said Matt Fuks, president and CEO of the SDSU Alumni Association. "The Jackrabbit is one of the most recognizable figures in South Dakota, but it has never been given an official name." . . . (read more)
