Re: Making the grade
More "MAKING THE GRADE" news: On June 24, the Summit League announced SDSU won the achievement award for academics.
South Dakota State student-athletes claimed The Summit League's Institutional Academic Achievement Award for the 2009-10 academic year, league officials announced Thursday.
The Jackrabbits earned the award by placing 69 percent of eligible student-athletes on the Commissioner's List for Academic Excellence, edging North Dakota State with 68 percent....

Added later: SDSU and NDSU have raised the academic bar for the conference. I think USD (and UND -- I think UND will get the Summit invite) will immediately compete for 'best academics' and only good things can come from that. I hope the other schools join the competition.

Re: Making the grade
In the Commissioner's academic achievement award SDSU has finished thus:
2007/8 - 1st
2008/9 - 2nd
2009/10 - 1st
In the Commissioner's Cup:
2007/8 - 3rd
2008/9 - 2nd
2009/10 - 2nd
That's a pretty nice blend of academic and athletic achievement.
